Prep Redzone looks at the Class of 2022 running backs in Maryland whose stock has risen so far this season. These players have done enough so far to get our attention. Most high school football teams did not play last fall nor this past spring, so they’re a little under-the-radar for now.

Butler has carried the football 49 times for 467 yards (8.5 yards per carry) and nine touchdowns in four games this season. He has rushed for 140-plus yards in his last three games. I think Butler is at his best when he’s allowed to take a straight handoff get north south as soon as possible. That’s where you’re able to see him speed up the fastest. Butler does a good job of taking inside runs that look like the play may go for a loss and turning them into gains by cutting it outside.

[player_tooltip player_id="208255" first="Terrez" last="Worthy"] | Parkside 5-10 | 190
Worthy may be one of the best-kept secrets in the state of Maryland right now. He has carried the football 52 times for 627 yards (12.1 yards per carry) and eight touchdowns in three games this season. He has run for 466 yards and six touchdowns in his last two games. I am very impressed with how fast Worthy hits the hole and is always getting north south as quickly as possible. He also does a great job of setting defenders up by waiting until he’s up on them before cutting to the left or to the right with no wasted movements. Worthy has been an effective on kickoff returns this year too.
