RB Jahbari Kuykendall | 5’8 | Westside High School | Junior
On Thursday night, Jahbari Kuykendall put up video game-like numbers in Westside High School’s 34-25 victory over Fort Bend Austin High School. Kuykendall has speed and knows how to use it. He is patient and once he finds the gap, he accelerates through with power. The junior back has outstanding footwork, as he routinely makes several defenders miss in the open field. It can’t be stressed enough, he is extremely elusive. Kuykendall averaged 11 ypc while totaling 241 yards and scoring a touchdown.
WR Cameron Price | 5’10 175lbs | St.Thomas High School | Senior
Having one of the hottest starts in the state is standout wide receiver, Cameron Price. After week 3, Price ranks sixth in the state of Texas in receiving yards (433). Price has great hands and it doesn’t matter whether the ball is high or low, he finds a way to bring it in. Price has a versatile skill set as he is used as a jet motion guy, where they like to get him the ball in space. Once he has the ball in his hands he becomes a strong runner with a nose for the end zone. Lastly, Price has great control throughout his routes and amazing sideline awareness. Price hauled in a couple along the sideline, including a 50-yarder running across the field where he toe tapped for six. He makes sharp cuts and doesn’t waste time getting open. Although his Eagles came up short in a shootout, Price shinned making play after play for his squad with his seven catches, 130 yards, and two touchdowns.
QB Bishop Davenport | 6’2 185lbs | Spring High School | Senior
The Utah State commit displayed his quick decision-making and arm talent in a blowout 69-21 win over Tomball Memorial. In his best game of the season, Davenport threw for 388 yards and five touchdowns, while hosting a 75% completion rate. All night long, Davenport had command of his throws. He was consistently putting the ball away from defenders while giving his receivers catchable passes. Working out of the shotgun and looking extremely poised in the pocket, his accuracy was pinpoint as he was hitting his targets in stride. Davenport makes smooth and quicks reads post-snap. He can quickly diagnose the coverage and move on to his next read and keep the defense guessing where he’s going with the ball.
WR Kendrick Ward | 6’0 | Cypress Creek High School | Senior
Cypress Creek’s Kendrick Ward is a creative wideout. Usually lining up at outside receiver in a spread set, Ward knows how to get open. First, he is creative at the line. He sets up defensive backs and really shines on his inside releases. Ward extends his hands out to ensure he catches the football, but once the ball is in his hands that’s when he shines the most. Ward has great balance and is hard to bring down solo due to his ability to slip off tacklers. Finally, he is a tough receiver as he ate a hit in the back in midair and still found to stay up and outrun the defense on his way to the end zone. Ward was the difference maker with his six receptions for 152 yards and two scores in a close 41-40 win.
WR Travis Sims | 5’8 170lbs | Spring High School | Senior
Continuing his impressive 2021 campaign is Spring’s slot receiver, Travis Sims. Posting his third straight 100-yard game against Tomball Memorial with seven catches, 155 yards, and two receiving touchdowns. Sims was winning at the top of the route, making athletic catches, and used his speed to find the end zone. He can run routes at all levels of the route tree. He thrives on slants and getting DB’s hips turned while working vertically to create separation. Travis Sims should be on scout’s radar with his crisp route running and top-tier production.
Klein Cain’s offensive line
The Hurricanes had a phenomenal night on the ground en route to a huge 49-14 victory over Cypress Ranch. Posting 363 yards rushing allowed the Canes’ to control the ball game in dominant fashion. Left Guard, Willie Reescano (5’11 275lbs, Senior) was creating holes all night with the help of his Center, Collin Campbell (5’11 255lbs, Senior). Three Hurricanes were able to eclipse the 100-yard rushing mark, including speedster Ramir McCray Ramir McCray 5'10" | 195 lbs | LB Klein Oak | 2022 State TX (5’11 210lbs, Senior) with his 109 yards and two scores. Reescano moves well on screens and keeps his head on the swivel to find work. His ability to reach the second level with his sealing blocks created big plays for the Klein Cain backs. Campbell does an outstanding job working on double teams and maintaining good leverage that helped created massive gaps. The entire line was consistently getting a good pop and push in the run game while they were able to keep their QB clean and with time to throw.
