Zach Fields 5’11 175lbs, Tomball Memorial High School, Senior
Tomball Memorial opened up their season with a monster 54-10 win over Nimitz High School. The 5’11 senior came up huge in their victory with his 4 catches, 124 yards, and 2 TDs. What really shined for Fields was his athleticism. On a slugo (slant and go) route, he got his defender to bite, and even on a slightly underthrown ball, Fields jumped over his defender to grab the touchdown. The senior is dangerous with the ball in his hands. He took a slant 43 yards to the house and wasn’t even touched. Fields is a true route runner and can get open at any level of the field. Fields should have a big year in this high potent Wildcat offense.
Jaquaize Pettaway Jaquaize Pettaway 5'11" | 170 lbs | WR Langham Creek | 2023 State TX 6’0 170lbs, Langham Creek High School, Junior
One of the most sought-after WR recruits in the nation, Jaquiaze Pettaway showed just why on his first Friday night of the 2021 season. Pettaway hauled in 5 receptions for 156 yards, including a 70-yard TD in the 42-48 loss against The Woodlands High School. Pettaway is about as dangerous as a route runner as they come. He has elite speed and an incredible ability to make defenders look silly in coverage. Pettaway excels in the slot in this Langham Creek spread offense. In his routes, he can throw his feet down quickly and change direction. Pettaway’s athleticism and consistent ability to get open, make him a top threat every single week.
Montrell Hatten 6’1, Carthage High School, Junior
The Carthage Bulldogs found themselves facing a 17-0 deficit until Junior receiver, Montrell Hatten got open deep for 59 yards to the house, which sparked his squad and led them to a 27-24 victory over Crosby High School. Hatten displayed his explosiveness last Friday night. His deep routing is fluid which allowed him to separate on his long TD catch. Hatten does a good job of sinking his hips and getting out of his breaks quickly. Hatten is an athlete on the field and can take it to the house on any play with his speed and strong-willed running.
Andrew Maleski 5’10 170lbs, Bridgeland High School, Senior
In this high-power Bridgeland offense, Maleski has been a consistent threat for the last couple of seasons and the start of his 2021 campaign proved that he has continued to progress. Senior, Andre Maleski went off for 11 catches 198 yards, and 3 TDs, including a 70 yarder. Maleski is a very controlled route runner and has a good understanding of leverage against the DB. He has speed and also is slippery with the ball in his hands, making him hard to bring down. Maleski looks to be the number one option for Bridgeland this year, which should get him national attention.
Travis Sims 5’8 170lbs, Spring High School, Senior
Travis Sims is exactly what you look for in a modern-day slot. His smooth and subtle route running allows him to create separation. In the red zone, Sims wastes no time, having powerful and efficient breaks that quickly get him open. He had some explosive and powerful blocks where he would drive the defender 5-10 yards, which is superb from a slot receiver. Between his solid hands and ability to separate allowed him to have a stellar game with 10 receptions for 132 yards and 2 TDs.
