I decided to kick off the season right with one of the games of the week which was Shadow Creek High School vs North Shore High School held at Freedom Field. In the 1st half it was a pretty close game with Shadow Creek only down by a touchdown. However, North Shore took the game final score 33-9. North Shore had a lot of talent on both sides of the ball. In this article, I’ll be talking about the Defensive standouts
#4 Tavon Griffin FS Sr
From observing Tavon Griffin I could tell he’s an intelligent technical player. Tavon is a free safety and with how well the defense was working up front Shadow Creek’s offense didn’t get the chance to move up a lot. However, with that being case Tavon Griffin started moving closer to the action. This lead to Tavon making more plays and getting more tackles as well as catching an interception.
#57 Cameron Wilkins DE Sr
North Shore had an outstanding defensive line. Even though the opposing team Shadow Creek offensive line wasn’t anything impressive I could tell North Shore defensive line were well trained. Cameron Wilkins is a defensive end and he had speed, strength and knowledge of how to move past offensive linemen. Cameron Wilkins caused a lot of panic to Shadow Creek’s offense which caused the quarterback to throw a lot of interceptions and bad throws.
#5 Jacoby Davis Jacoby Davis 5'11" | 170 lbs | DB North Shore | 2023 State TX DB Jr
Jacoby Davis Jacoby Davis 5'11" | 170 lbs | DB North Shore | 2023 State TX stood out as a defensive back. Jacoby was always on his man and didn’t let them get too far. Jacoby stopped and blocked quite a few passes. Jacoby got an interception during the latter half of the game which lead to a pick-six. Jacoby has a lot of upcoming options for colleges with offers to Auburn University, University of Michigan, Mississippi State University, Baylor University, Texas A&M to name a few. Jacoby is only in his Junior year, I’m expecting he’ll get plenty more offers coming his way before the end of the season.
#59 Michael Woodley Jr NG, DT Sr
Michael Woodley is a Junior who plays on the defensive line as a nose guard and defensive tackle. Michael was incredibly fast and quick off the ball. Not only did Michael have the speed, he had the power to push through Shadow Creek’s offensive line and double team effortlessly. Michael is an overwhelming force with the potential to grow more during his Junior and Senior year seasons.
