Take a look at the top players coming from week three of high school football in Central Texas!
1. Colin Page (SR-RB) – Anderson High School (Austin, TX)
Stats: 165 rushing yards, 3 rushing touchdowns, 6 receptions, 157 receiving yards, 2 receiving touchdowns
Page lit up the scoreboard against Westwood and he did so both on the ground and through the air. Westwood simply had no means of stopping him. They could not cover him, and they could not catch him. Page’s speed could not be matched and he had excellent route-running skills on display. He juked out the entire defense and he was just on a roll all around. College scouts should take note after this performance.
2. Cade Klubnik Cade Klubnik 6'2" | 180 lbs | QB Austin Westlake | 2022 State TX (SR-QB) – Westlake High School (Austin, TX)
Stats: 375 passing yards, 6 passing touchdowns, 1 interception
Klubnik had an incredible performance against Mansfield Summit that was only matched by the next player junior quarterback Austin Novosad Austin Novosad 6'4" | 195 lbs | QB Dripping Springs | 2023 State TX from Dripping Springs. Easily put, Klubnik was accurate, mobile and showed off his arm cannon. Despite the one interception, Klubnik was electric, which is obvious given his six passing touchdowns. The Mansfield Summit defense had no answers and the Clemson commit continues to make a name for himself.
3. Austin Novosad Austin Novosad 6'4" | 195 lbs | QB Dripping Springs | 2023 State TX (JR-QB) – Dripping Springs High School (Dripping Springs, TX)
Stats: 291 passing yards, 6 passing touchdowns, 1 interception
Novosad had an equally impressive performance against Lockhart. Novosad also showed off his cannon of an arm and his incredible accuracy, despite also getting an interception in the game. Novosad was effective all around, short passes, deep passes, post routes and curl routes, Novosad hit all the marks and it shows in his stats. Novosad already has nine offers but will likely be getting more after last week.
4. Cash McCollum (SO-QB) – Wimberley High School (Wimberley, TX)
Stats: 387 passing yards, 4 passing touchdowns
McCollum responded well under the pressure of the Lampasas defense and was accurate to the letter. He performed well on play-action plays and almost seemed to play better when the defense blitzed. He was incredibly effective on deep throws and could really sling it. McCollum is just a sophomore but is quite the sleeper that defenses should not overlook.
5. Jaylon Reeves (SR-QB) – Pflugerville High School (Pflugerville, TX)
Stats: 113 rushing yards, 2 rushing touchdowns
Although Reeves did not do much through the air, he made sure Glenn High School would not forget his ground game. He ran all over the field and all around the defense with running back like numbers for a quarterback. Considering how well Pflugerville’s run game is, the last thing defenses need is the Panthers quarterback to also be sprinting down the field at the same speeds as the running backs.
6. Darrel Jones (SR-LB) – Pflugerville High School (Pflugerville, TX)
Stats: 2 sacks, 1 forced fumble, 1 safety, 15 total tackles, 2 tackles for a loss
7. Nick Grullon (SR-WR) – Cedar Park High School (Cedar Park, TX)
Stats: 9 receptions, 155 receiving yards, 2 receiving touchdowns
Grullon was electric for the Timberwolves and was an especially effective receiver in middle and deep throws. The Round Rock defense seemed to have great difficulty in covering him and even more so, bringing him down.
8. Trajon Butler (JR-RB) – Marlin High School (Marlin, TX)
Stats: 146 rushing yards, 3 rushing touchdowns, 7 receptions, 52 receiving yards
Butler is a quick young man, and by quick he can move across the field in what seems like seconds. More so, he is both equally as speedy both on the ground and through the air. He is a big scoring play kind of player and also hard to take down, able to break multiple tackles on a single play. Marlin has shown up on the game balls radar a couple of times now and is quickly having some breakout offensive talent.
9. Jerrod Hicks (SO-RB) – Shoemaker High School (Killeen, TX)
Stats: 189 rushing yards, 4 rushing touchdowns
10. Jaden Greathouse Jaden Greathouse 6'2" | 210 lbs | WR Austin Westlake | 2023 State TX (JR-WR) – Westlake High School (Austin, TX)
Stats: 6 receptions, 157 receiving yards, 3 receiving touchdowns
Klubnik had a great game and so did Greathouse. He was both his slippery self and was able to catch some tough passes in traffic. He could simply not be taken down and would make some of the hardest catches of the year so far. Greathouse and Klubnik are a deadly duo and if one is doing well, odds are the other is too. Westlake is in elite form already and that should come as no surprise.
