From private school backs all the way up to 7A, we saw some record-breaking performances. Many of them have zero offers, but it won’t be long for schools to start showing some serious interest.
Here are a few of the top running back performances from week 4 across Georgia…
Peyton Streko – West Forsyth
One of the breakout running backs in the state so far this season, the junior back ran all over the tough Walton defense on Friday night, zig-zagging his way to 252 yards and six touchdowns on just 20 carries. He scored early and often in the contest and couldn’t be stopped the entire night. He’s not overly big at 5-foot-10 190-pounds, but he’s quick, shifty, can break tackles, and has some explosiveness to his game. He’s a natural runner and has some shake and bake to his game. Not only can he break tackles, but he’s faster than people think. He explodes through the line of scrimmage and he’s looking to score every time he touches the ball. The Walton defense got tired in the 2nd half and Streko ran right through them to put the game away in the 4th quarter. It’s not easy to score six touchdowns in one game, especially on a strong 7A team like Walton, but that’s exactly what happened Friday night. He ran hard, he ran fast, and he ran the Wolverines to victory. Streko’s performance was one of the best across the state this weekend. He’s a D1-caliber running back, and once coaches start watching the film from this year, look for some interest and possible offers to come his way.
PEYTON. STREKO.

Tre Hawkins – Athens Academy
One of the top backs in Single-A private, Hawkins has been on an absolute tear since last season, running through defenses every single Friday night. He had record-breaking game this past weekend as he set a new school record with 301 yards and 7 rushing touchdowns. As impressive as that is, the craziest part is that he accomplished all that on just 20 carries and 3 quarters. Athens Academy ran right through Providence Christian Academy for an easy 70-27 victory. When Hawkins touched the ball, good things happen. He ran behind a solid offensive line, but it was clear that Hawkins was the best player on the field. He has the athleticism, home-run hitting speed, good footwork, and he knows how to break tackles. He doesn’t exactly play against the best competition, but 301 yards is 301 yards, and it’s never easy to scored. 7 touchdowns. We’re still early in the season, but Hawkins’ performance this weekend will be one of the best we’ve seen all year.
Another crazy stat line from last night.
Athens Academy junior Tre Hawkins set two school records: 301 yards & 7 TDs (on 20 carries thru 3 quarters)
He already had the record after last year at 285 yards & 5 TDs.

- Simeon Askew – Houston County
The Middle Georgia star is off to one of the best starts of any offensive player in this part of the state. He’s put the Houston County offense on his back this season, rushing for close to 500 yards through his first three games. His fourth game this past weekend was his biggest game so far this season as he rumbled through Statesboro to lead Houston County to a big 24-20 win. Askew carried the Bears as he rushed 29 times for 257 yards and two important touchdowns. He ran hard in the first half, wearing down the Statesboro defense throughout the second half. He’s a strong, thicker back at 5-foot-10 210 pounds and it took two defenders to bring him down all night. He got tough yards in the trenches and had no problem bouncing off tackles and picking up extra yards. He’s big, tough to tackle, and looks for contact. He runs hard behind his pads and always finds a way to carry a defender or two a couple extra yards when being tackles. Askew has now rushed for over 750 yards and five touchdowns on the season.
Dallas Johnson – Covington
There’s a new running back to know about in the Atlanta area and it’s the senior from Covington. The athletic 6-foot-0 175-pound team captain got off to a great start to the season after rushing for over 200 yards in a week one victory over Winder-Barrow. He went off again this past weekend, rushing for 255 yards and four touchdowns in a 30-21 win over Alcovy. He was a tackle-breaking machine all night, using his incredible balance and footwork to continue running after spinning and zig-zagging away from defenders. A true athlete who can make plays on both sides of the ball, it was easy to see his natural talent and athleticism. He was playing on a different level and the Alcovy defense had no answer for him. He’s a natural playmaker who can take a busted play and turn it into a score. He only rushed 23 times of Friday night, giving him 11.1 yards a carry. Look for the Eagles to continue feeding him often through the season.
