Neither defense was stellar on Thursday night when Eastview visited Park. With a total of 68 points scored – many of those points on big, long-distance touchdowns. Even with the teams lighting up the scoreboard, there were still some sold plays on the defensive side of the ball. Here are some of the athletes who made plays that stood out.
<strong>Cooper DeSutter Eastview LB</strong>
DeSutter made an early tackle, and then his penetration slowed the running back down for a short gain. He put pressure on the quarterback to force a punt. On the game’s final drive, he made an open-field tackle for a short gain and kept the running in bounds to keep the clock moving.
<strong>Chris Kujawa Park DB</strong>
Kujawa wasn’t all that busy covering the pass, but he was great coming up supporting the run. He made two open-field tackles in the first quarter that prevented long gains. Later in the game, he did it again, showing great tackling ability in space.
<strong>Jacob Nickle Park LB</strong>
Nickle stuffed an inside run and then made another solid tackle against the run. Later, he put immediate pressure on the quarterback on a third and long and finished it with a sack.
<strong>Sam Weinhaus Eastview DB</strong>
Weinhaus came up supporting the run and shot an outside gap to stop a sweep. Later, he made a nice tackle on an outside run.
