Antwian Lake – Bishop Luers – WR – 5’10″ 180 lbs
Lake was practically unstoppable on third-downs on Friday. Anytime they dropped back to pass on third-down their go-to guy was feasting in the middle of the field. He was practically unstoppable in the slot and was moving the chains on a regular basis. He alone had 5 receptions on third-down that led to a new set of downs. He did have a boneheaded mistake trying to field a kickoff. He tried to do the trick where 1 foot is inbound and the other is out so it counts as a kick-off out of bounds. He did it wrong and they started the drive on the 2.
Carson Clark Carson Clark 6'2" | 185 lbs | QB Bishop Luers | 2022 State IN – Bishop Luers – QB – 6’2″ 180 lbs
Clark looked like the real deal. He always remained calm and collective the entire game, even on the game-winning drive. He made a few “wow” throws where even the Homestead sideline was amazed. He threw an absolute dime for a 63-yard touchdown. He also had a sick cross-body throw for a 43-yard TD to go up at the half. He was making every throw and was in complete control the entire game.
Sir Hale – Bishop Luers – RB – 5’7″ 170 lbs
Hale was the main star of the show for Bishop Luers. They fed him the ball early and often. They couldn’t slow him down. He had a few mental errors but nothing catastrophic. He was catching passes out of the backfield, running guys over, and making players miss. Hale was doing it all and on the final drive, they called his name. Hale had a very patient run where he used his vision to find the hole and score the game-winning TD. I spoke with him after the game. He’s a fantastic young man with a great head on his shoulders.
Desmond Smith Jr – Homestead – RB – 5’8″ 170 lbs
Smith was the reason Homestead was able to move the ball in the first half. He never takes a loss, always makes at least 1 person miss, and drags guys down with him when he’s being tackled. I was sitting right behind his dad so anytime Desmond did something I had to stand up and peak another direction. It’s safe to say I had to move shortly after. Smith was everywhere for the Spartans. He scored their first and second touchdowns of the night.
Peyton Slaven – Homestead – QB – 6’0″ 165 lbs
Slaven was decent on Friday. He made most throws and didn’t make any mistakes. He was able to help the Spartans move up and down the field the entire night. He was consistent and level-headed. He was able to roll and extend some drives with his legs and juice the crowd that way. He was consistent and steady when they needed him, however, he fell short on the last drive. Bishop Luers was able to get pressure and force him out of the pocket.
