This was an amazing game it went down to the wire. Bellaire came out on top with a score of 23-20. Both team played great, but I do believe Elkins had better players overall. Unfortunately, Elkins just made one too many mistakes that cost them the game. I’ll be going over Bellaire high school’s hidden gems.
#23 Jonathan McCoy RB, WR Sr 5’8 171 lbs
One of Bellaire’s stand out players was definitely #23 Jonathan McCoy. Jonathan McCoy was Bellaire’s running back and the core to Bellaire’s offense. Jonathan always came through when Bellaire needed it especially on 3rd downs. Jonathan was fast and very persistent breaking tackle after tackle to get yards. Jonathan had a big 26 yard run that later led to one of his two touchdowns. Jonathan McCoy has an offer from Louisiana College I’m sure by the end of the season he’ll have more offers.
#5 Adantae Ford QB Jr 6’3 210 lbs
One of the reasons for me coming to this game was because of Bellaire’s quarterback Adantae Ford. Adantae Ford is an amazing quarterback and he still has more room to grow. I would say he needs to work on his pass timing with his wide receivers, but he knows how to scramble well and throw. With Elkin’s assertive defensive line Adantae impromptu decision making was necessary in clutch time. I’m expecting a lot out of Adantae’s in his Junior year definitely a future college prospect.
No player information #98 DE
I was very impressed by Bellaire’s defensive line. One of the notable defensive lineman was defensive end #98. #98 was very aggressive, strong and persistent definitely a big play maker. #98 had an involvement in practically every play he got a lot of tackles, caused a couple fumbles, and got two fumble recoveries.
#4 Ejike Brown DE Sr 6’2 225 lbs
Ejike Brown was another noticeable defensive end. Ejike is a big body and knows how to properly use his strength. Not only is he strong, but very quick and fast especially off the line. Elkins offensive line could barely keep up with Ejike. I’m sure Ejike will have a great senior and a great college prospect.
#79 Malachi Harris DT Jr
Malachi Harris is another one of Bellaire’s impressive and capable defensive linemen. Malachi was able to get in the back field a couple through his strength ad aggressiveness. Malachi assisted in a lot of tackles and even caused a fumble at one point.
#9 Devin Alexander MLB Sr 5’10 195 lbs
I didn’t notice Devin Alexander at first, I thought he was an adequate player, but nothing enough to stand out. Devin during the second half was really flowing and moving. Devin was stopping Elkins run game he made and assisted in a lot of the tackles. Devin recovered a fumble and took all the way to the end for a touchdown.
