Ryan Tester – Adams Central – LB – 5’10” 160 lbs
Tester was the first player who stood out on defense Friday and then he stayed consistent. He’s able to read and diagnose plays before they happen and then blow them up. He’s a fantastic tackler and has great form. He comes to balance, attacks the outside hip, and wraps up every time. He was solid for Adams Central and made every play when the opportunity came to him. He even blew up the run game a few times. He finished the evening with 15 tackles, 3 TFL, and a win.
Corbin Hirschy – Adams Central – DT – 6’1″ 260 lbs
Hirschy is one of the best interior defensive linemen in the area. He’s incredibly tough and clogs the line on every play. He doesn’t show up in the stats sheet very often but hes’ constantly impacting the game. He literally forces the opposing offense to change their running game for the week. He finally got home late in the game for a sack and the whole crowd loved it. He plays incredibly hard and sticks to his fundamentals.
Nick Neuenschwander – Adams Central – CB – 5’8″ 154 lbs
Nick was able to make his impact late in the game on the scorecard but he shut down his receiver the entire game. Heading into the game that was supposed to be the 1 on 1 matchup to watch. Neuenschwander won that matchup all game. He got to have his cake and eat it too as late in the game he intercepted a pass and weaved through the entire offense before scoring on a pick 6.
Chase Meyers – South Adams – DE/LB – 5’11” 177 lbs
Meyers is best when they let him rush off the edge and try getting to the quarterback. When he gets those chances he delivers for the Starfires. He’s a decent athlete and very explosive right off the ball. He got a sack when they needed it most and he was able to kill a drive that had points written all over it. He made the play by bull-rushing his blocker and bending around the tackle at the same time.
