Here are some of the best QB performances from week 1 across Georgia…
Robbie Roper Robbie Roper 6'3" | 210 lbs | QB Roswell | 2022 State GA – Roswell
Going into the season you could make the case for the Roswell Hornet to be the most underrated QB across the state. Roper does not hold a D1 offer to this point, but that could change sooner than later. In Roswell’s opening game against South Forsyth, Roper proved that he has a live arm and can be extremely accurate down the field. He won the game and led the Hornet offense with his arm, but Roper proved that he can take off and run when he needs to as well. The 6-foot-2 180-pounder has good size and proved in week 1 that he can play somewhere at the next level. Roper lead the Hornets to a 45-26 victory over South Forsyth, throwing for 447 yards and rushing for 53 more. He was responsible for 6 touchdowns and led the Hornet offense with ease. Look for Roper to continue this level of play throughout his senior season.
Sam Horn Sam Horn 6'4" | 190 lbs | QB Collins Hill | 2022 State GA – Collins Hill
One of the top overall QBs across the South, Horn showed off his big arm over and over again during Collins Hill’s big 36-10 win over Brookwood. Horn, a Missouri commitment, looks the part of an SEC-caliber QB at 6-foot-4 190-pounds, and proved that he has SEC arm talent as well. He’s got plenty of weapons to throw too, and he did a great job of distributing the ball while heavily feeding elite 5-star ATH Travis Hunter Travis Hunter 6'1" | 165 lbs | ATH Collins Hill | 2022 State GA , the No.1 player in the country. Horn got off to a shaky start with an early INT in the red-zone, but he was sharp and effective the rest of the game. He showed good pocket presence, but threw the ball well when on the run. He scans the field well and has the arm strength to push the ball down the field. He’ll hit the open man underneath when he needs too, but Horn is one who likes to sling the ball all over the field. Against Brookwood, Horn threw for over 400 yards and had 5 total touchdowns. Look for him to be one of the state’s leading passers this upcoming season.
Tyler Hughes Tyler Hughes 6'1" | 195 lbs | QB Marietta | 2022 State GA – Marietta
It may have come in a losing effort, but Tyler Hughes Tyler Hughes 6'1" | 195 lbs | QB Marietta | 2022 State GA looked like one of the top QBs in North Georgia this weekend. The Blue Devil gunslinger showed a strong, accurate arm and the ability to sling the ball deep down the field. He was poised in the pocket, showed patience, and made some really good decisions with the ball throughout the game. He showed good footwork in the pocket, impressive mobility, and the ability to turn a broken play into a big one. He can escape pressure well while still looking downfield for a big play. Hughes connected on three long TDs and ended the game with 375 passing yards and four touchdowns. He also took a fake punt 60+ yards down the field using his overall speed for the big run. He’s a dynamic QB at 6-foot-2 200-pounds who really played well against a tough Colquitt County team.
