Buford and Cedar Grove.
The powerhouse Buford Wolves hosted a Cedar Grove team full of D1 talent and took care of business in fairly easy fashion. The Wolves’ defense suffocated the Cedar Grove offense and didn’t allow a point until the final minutes of the scrimmage.
Here are some of the top performers from the scrimmage…
Ashton Daniels – QB – Buford
The rising senior for Buford picked up right where he left off from last year, showing poise, accuracy, and good decision-making throughout the game. It was a tough task for him as he went up against an extremely talented Cedar Grove defense, but Daniels led the Wolves to two early touchdowns and did a good job of moving the football and getting the ball to his playmakers. He showed he has some mobility as well, but his leadership, high football IQ, and consistent arm helped get the Wolves to an early lead that they wouldn’t give up. Daniels was very impressive on Friday night.
KJ Bolden KJ Bolden 6'1" | 185 lbs | WR Buford | 2024 State GA – WR – Buford
Even as a rising sophomore, Bolden was one of the top players on the field when he was out there. The quick, explosive 2024 ATH took a screen pass 50 yards to the house to give the Wolves a 13-0 lead in the first half. He caught the ball, put his foot in the ground, and exploded up the field for the easy score. Even against a talented Cedar Grove defense, Bolden made the touchdown look easy. He’d be a top prospect in the 2022 class, but he’ll certainly push for 5-star status in the 2024 class. Look for him to have a BIG sophomore season for the Wolves this fall.

Christen Miller Christen Miller 6'6" | 285 lbs | DL Cedar Grove | 2022 State GA – DL – Cedar Grove
One of the top 2022 DL prospects in the South, the interior lineman was outstanding against a tough Buford offensive line. The Wolves made most of their big plays on the outside as Miller wasn’t going to let much go by him in the trenches. He was consistently in the backfield and had a sack and TFL early on in the scrimmage. He showed power, strength, and a solid motor all night. He used his hands well to get off blocks and proved why he’s one of the best in the 2022 class.

CJ Madden – LB – Cedar Grove
The future EDGE defender in college was playing in the middle of the field at linebacker against Buford, so we didn’t see him get after the passer as much as he might at the next level. He’s versatile, athletic, and for Cedar Grove to be at their best, they’ll need Madden to play linebacker more than defensive end. His athleticism showed as he picked off a pass in the 2nd half. He’s big and long at 6-foot-3 240-pounds and moves well for his size. He was easy to notice and is expected to have a monster senior season for the Saints this fall.
Kayin Lee Kayin Lee 6'0" | 160 lbs | DB Cedar Grove | 2023 State GA – DB – Cedar Grove
One of the top 2023 DB prospects in the country, the playmaking DB held his own on the outside against speedy WR Isaiah Bond Isaiah Bond 5'10" | 160 lbs | DB Buford | 2022 State GA who is committed to Florida. He wasn’t perfect on the night, but he showed that even if he gets in trouble down the field that he can recover quickly and put himself in a position to make a play. He’s quick, athletic, technically sound, and had some great battles with Bond during the game.
Jake Pope Jake Pope 6'2" | 195 lbs | ATH Buford | 2022 State GA -DB – Buford
Pope may not have lit up the stat sheet, but he was always around the football and did his job every play. He’s always where he needs to be and makes a lot of plays that don’t show up on the stat sheet. He’s instinctual, he’s a leader, and he was easy to notice out there. He’ll lined up anywhere he’s asked and he’s going to make a LOT of plays on offense, defense, and special teams this fall.
