Judging by tape, each of these players will make fine additions to their respective future colleges. That being said, let us take a look at what makes each of these players unique and elite.
1. Bryce Anderson Bryce Anderson 5'11" | 190 lbs | DB West Brook | 2022 State TX (SR-DB) – West Brook High School (Beaumont, TX) – Texas A&M
The highest-ranked player in this update, Anderson ranks amongst the highest in both his position and in the state of Texas overall. He also had multiple offers from some of the top schools in the country including Alabama, Texas, LSU and Arizona State. However, Anderson committed to Texas A&M on Friday, August 6. He visited Aggieland back in June before he visited with Alabama and Texas the same month. One of his many accolades is that he played in the Polynesian Bowl, which features the world’s best high school players of Polynesian descent.
Looking at his tape, which also features him in the quarterback spot, Anderson is a jack-of-all-trades kind of player, he can run, break tackles, throw accurate and deep passes, has speed equal to few and just has excellent athletic capability. It is no wonder so many schools across the country were looking to get him and he will make a great addition to the Aggies.
2. Chris Hicks (SR-RB) – Duncanville High School (Duncanville, TX) – UTSA
Hicks also received his fair share of offers including Arkansas State, Austin Peay, Houston and TCU, but Hicks committed to UTSA on Saturday, August 7. Hicks can run 4.54 seconds in the 40-yard dash and a 4.47 shuttle. Judging by his tape, and his 40, Hicks is an incredibly fast athlete and can fit well as a slot receiver for deep and quick passes to earn a lot of yardage fast. Having him in either spot really spells trouble for defenses looking to stop a fast-paced offense and UTSA will benefit greatly for having him in the future.
3. Braxton White Braxton White 6'4" | 215 lbs | DL Texas High | 2022 State TX (SR-DL) – Texas High School (Texarkana, TX) – UNLV
White received a couple of offers from both UNLV and Incarnate Word, and chose to go with UNLV on Friday. Looking at his tape, White is an opportunistic defensive lineman who will take advantage of any missed blocks and will make an offense pay for any mistakes. His speed and his athleticism are what make sure this happens. He is a fun player to watch and should be a great addition to UNLV.
4. Josh Dixon (SR-DB) – McKinney High School (McKinney, TX) – Wyoming
Dixon committed to Wyoming on Thursday, August 5, but he also received multiple offers including from Air Force, Army, Houston Baptist and Incarnate Word. Dixon plays excellent zone-coverage and is always seemingly around the ball. His size, speed and athleticism are all perfect for the corner spot that he plays, and he has excellent focus to make sure he can either cause an incompletion or get the interception. More so he is able to keep a very tight coverage around receivers and does not allow them to create a gap for a reception. Dixon is a smart player to say the least.
5. Micah Leejay (SR-LB) – Arlington High School (Arlington, TX) – Stephen F. Austin
Leejay made his commitment on Wednesday, August 4 with Stephen F. Austin but also received offers from Buffalo, Incarnate Word, Lamar and McNeese State. Leejay has excellent size for the linebacker position including his fantastic wingspan. In the field of play, he is fast, agile, and will make an offense pay for any blown blocks. In this day and age of mobile quarterbacks, having a linebacker like Leejay that can keep up with these said quarterbacks is a huge bonus, and the Lumberjacks have acquired just that kind of linebacker.
