7A Region 4 is home to two of the state’s most storied programs along with the biggest current program in the state.
The Grayson Rams are thee lead dog in the region now as they’re coming off a 7A state championship. Then there’s Brookwood and Parkview, one of the biggest and longest rivalries across the state. Newton and South Gwinnett are two respectable programs who round out the region.
It will be a fight this fall for the region title and there are plenty of players ready for their breakout year. Here are a few names to know who could have a monster year this season.
Alexander Diggs – RB – Brookwood
If there’s a breakout running back to know in Gwinnett County, its the senior from Brookwood (GA). The Broncos will be without some of their weapons from last year, so that means more opportunities will come Diggs’ way. He should be able to carry the load just fine as he’s a weapon both as a runner and receiver out of the backfield. He runs hard, shows great balance, burst vision, and playmaking ability. In Brookwood’s scrimmage against South Paulding this week, Diggs picked up right where he left off last season, scoring three touchdowns and showing shy he’s one of the best offensive players in the region. Diggs ran well throughout the scrimmage and was deadly out of the backfield as a receiver. He rushed for one score and caught two more on the night. Look for Diggs to find the end-zone early and often this fall.
JoJo Stone – ATH – Grayson
One of the best players on the entire roster, Jone is an elite athlete who has the chance to play all over for the Grayson Rams this year as a sophomore. The 5-foot-11 180-pounder will likely play defensive back at the next level, but he’ll play DB, WR, RB, and even some QB this year. Even as a rising sophomore, Stone is going to have a BIG impact for the Rams this fall. He has five-star potential and could be one of the highest-ranked athletes in the country for the 2024 class. He’s going to touch the ball often this year and will be a big name across the state very early in the season. He already owns offers from Georgia, FSU, Boston College, among others.
Colin Houck Colin Houck 6'2" | 175 lbs | QB Parkview | 2023 State GA – QB – Parkview
One of the many possible breakout QBs across the state, Houck was very impressive earlier this summer at the Corky Kell 7-on-7 tournament and is on the verge of a big season this fall as a junior. He’s a longer, leaner QB at 6-foot-2 180-pounds with a live arm. He’s a good athlete who also stars on the baseball diamond. Houck impressed as a sophomore last season where he threw for close to 2,000 yards and 20 touchdowns in one of the toughest regions in the state. He looks the part, he has a strong arm, and he’s ready to lead Parkview to a big season.
Ethan Davis – Collins Hill
The Eagles fell a little short in last year’s 7A state title game, but they’ve added another explosive playmaker on offense to help four-star QB Sam Horn Sam Horn 6'4" | 190 lbs | QB Collins Hill | 2022 State GA in the passing game. They were already one of the best high-powered passing offenses in the state, and now they have another weapon in Davis. The Wisconsin native recently moved to Georgia and will be able to make a giant impact as a junior due to his size and athleticism. He might be a little raw right now, but the physical tools and athletic ability are easy to see. A star on the basketball court as well, Davis is a lean athlete at 6-foot-5 and already holds offers to play basketball at the next level. Now that he’ll line up at receiver, he’s getting offers to play football now too. The LSU Tigers extended an offer this week and they certainly won’t be the last. Expect Davis to have a MASSIVE junior season alongside Horn and five-star ATH Travis Hunter Travis Hunter 6'1" | 165 lbs | ATH Collins Hill | 2022 State GA .
