Ceballos was the only receiver in the LA City Section to have over 100 yards receiving. He caught 10 passes for 159 yards and three touchdowns in Franklin’s 33-0 win over Bell. Ceballos runs good routes, can make catches in traffic and may be near the top of the City Section leaderboard by the end of the season.

Josh Davis, Carlsbad, 2022
Carlsbad is one of the top teams in San Diego and they cruised to a win over Great Oak of Temecula. The connection between quarterback Julian Sayin Julian Sayin 6'1" | 195 lbs | QB Carlsbad | 2024 State CA and Davis was a big factor and will be all season. Davis caught six passes for 168 yards and a pair of touchdowns. I like him better as a corner as far as recruiting goes, but he is an excellent high school receiver for a potential championship team.

Drew Faulkner, Western, 2023
Western had some transfers come in this season that shined in the offseason but it’s almost as if Faulkner said “don’t forget about me,” with his performance in week zero. The talented junior caught 13 passes for 227 yards and two touchdowns in Western’s win over Chino. It was nice to see the Western players play against tougher competition than they did in the spring and Faulkner delivered.

Austin Overn, Foothill, 2022
It’s not often that a player who has a scholarship to a Power 5 conference school in baseball also plays football. Overn is a baseball star at Foothill with a scholarship to USC but he made a big impact on the football field in week zero. He caught just four passes for 219 yards and three touchdowns in the Knights’ road win over Cypress. He is a real big play threat for an athletic team that may be a contender in the incredibly tough Crest View League.
https://t.co/zb9prihueD Great game winning 40-33 against Cypress. Had a blast being back on the field with the boys. @GoFoothill @USCCoachGill @ocvarsity

Ty Pierson, Arcadia, 2022
It’s rare that a player has nearly 500 all-purpose yards in a game but Pierson did that in a win against Marina. He did the most of his damage as a receiver, catching six passes for 331 yards and four touchdowns. He is small at 5-foot-9 and 165 pounds but he has track athlete speed and can make huge plays.
Last night's opening football game season, Arcadia HS Apaches vs Marina HS Vikings, was electrifying! Feeling great at my home game at Salter Stadium with 5 TDs with almost 500 all purpose yards and lockdown D https://t.co/8jL3QbxGe1
