Roderick Robinson, RB, 2023, Lincoln
Robinson has had a busy summer picking up multiple PAC-12 offers and visiting the campuses of Oregon and Cal after an impressive spring season. The 2023 RB is an explosive and powerful runner with raw talent and natural ability that jumps off the tape. He’s a strong, physical back at 6’1, 220 lbs., with a quick burst through the hole and extremely physical at the point of contact racking up yards after first contact. His impressive combination of speed, balance, and agility make him difficult to tackle in open space and often beats defenders to the edge for big gains on outside runs. Robinson’s recruitment should continue to heat up after impressing college coaches at summer showcases and what should be a strong junior campaign, look for more major D-1 offers headed his way.
Nathan Acevedo, WR, 2022, Lincoln
Acevedo’s recruitment has gained traction over the past couple months after picking up resident offers from Fresno St. and UNLV. The long 2022 WR is a crafty playmaker with an impressive combination of top-end speed and positional instincts. He put big numbers in the shortened spring season racking up 866 receiving yards and eight touchdowns in five games. He’s a constant deep-ball threat with his straight-line speed and is shifty in open space making defenders miss with the ball in his hands. He shows great ball skills consistently going up and getting balls over DBs and making catches in traffic. His size and build are most likely the reasons for him flying under the radar but his playmaking ability on tape speaks for itself. Acevedo should continue to pick up D-1 offers during his upcoming senior season.
Jose Sanchez, OL, 2022, University City
Sanchez just picked up his first offer from Idaho in August. He possesses great size for his LT position and should continue to add weight to his frame especially in a college weight room. He utilizes his hands and long reach extremely well in keeping edge rushers from getting into his body in pass protection and moving defenders off the LOS in run blocks. He shows impressive athleticism for his size in reaching defenders on the second level and opening running lanes for playmakers. The Idaho offer could be the kickstart his recruitment needs as he continues to add weight and improve his footwork heading into his senior year.
Christian Aguilar, RB/LB, 2022, Eastlake
Aguilar is a physical playmaker on both sides of the ball at RB and LB but projects as LB at the next level. At 5’11 210 lbs., Aguilar is an extremely physical and explosive player using his size and strength to fill holes in the run game and shows lateral speed making plays in coverage. He shows a nose for the ball tracking the ball sideline-to-sideline and is powerful at the point of contact. His athleticism gives him versatility to play both inside and outside linebacker positions which should translate well to the college game. So far he has picked up D-2 offers from Lake Erie and Southwestern Minnesota St. and should continue to see more offers headed his way during his senior season.
Kiah Reed, QB, 2022, El Camino
Reed helped guide his team to the state championship during his sophomore season in 2019. His natural arm talent and strength jumps off the tape making a variety of throws all over the field. He shows athleticism escaping the pocket and keeping his eyes downfield finding open receivers on the run. His explosive arm gives him the ability to push the ball downfield from the pocket or on the move and has the pocket presence to complete throws facing oncoming pass rush. He shows a solid foundation of fundamentals setting his feet and finishing downfield throws and has the accuracy to fit balls into tight windows downfield and out-cuts toward the sidelines. He’s impressed coaches and scouts at recent camps and is quickly rising the ranks as one of the top passers in the San Diego area. He hasn’t seen any offers come his way yet but that should change as he hopes to lead El Camino to another strong season.
Zoom Esplin, OL, 2022, La Costa Canyon
At 6’8 235 lbs., Esplin certainly possesses the physical tools to play at the next level. His remarkable height and length present strong upside at the LT position which has been recognized by BYU, picking up his first offer back in June. He should continue to grow into his body and add strength to his long frame which will help him become a physical force in the trenches. He is only scratching the surface of his potential and schools like BYU are beginning to recognize that potential.
