High-end talent does not always equate to high-end results. Whether we like to admit it or not – rankings are subjective. However, kids are ranked for a reason. I don’t think any coach would turn away a kid with talent. It doesn’t guarantee on-field success. Eden Prairie isn't on this list but you know that coaching staff will have the Eagles at or above six or seven regular season wins - these five 6A teams – based on PRZ’s rankings of the Class of ’22 - have some of the most talent in Class 6A returning this fall.

The Irish finished with an undefeated 6-0 record in 2020. Defense was their calling card as they pitched four shutouts and only gave up 20 points all season. They return second-leading tackler Townsend and starting defensive back Pyne. Winning with defense means special teams become extremely important, and the Irish return the best kicker in the state in Simmering. Offensively, they return starting left tackle Edminson (who will also be on the defensive line), and leading rusher Washington.

[player_tooltip player_id="49822" first="Trejuan" last="Holloman"] DB, [player_tooltip player_id="116284" first="James" last="Morrison"] OL, [player_tooltip player_id="116454" first="Charlie" last="Plum"] TE, [player_tooltip player_id="116493" first="Colin" last="Benick"] OL, [player_tooltip player_id="18436" first="Luke" last="Floysand"] QB, [player_tooltip player_id="18555" first="Nate" last="Sullivan"] DB
Since [player_tooltip player_id="18422" first="Eli" last="King"]’s decision to sit out the football season this year, Holloman becomes the top-ranked active player in our rankings. Ironically, after I finished putting the finishing touches on this story last night, I saw Holloman just committed to Tom Izzo and Michigan State. Hopefully, he will still anchor a secondary that will also include Sullivan, who is a solid tackler with good range at corner. Although the Raiders only won a single game last year, they also return quarterback Floysand who averaged more than two touchdown passes a game and three guys along the offensive front – including a field-stretching tight end in Plum.
Farmington 7 seniors ranked by PRZ
[player_tooltip player_id="18431" first="Zach" last="Cochnauer"] OL, [player_tooltip player_id="49877" first="Rod" last="Finley"] ATH, [player_tooltip player_id="116452" first="Connor" last="Weed"] DB, [player_tooltip player_id="49932" first="Ben" last="Buesgens"] ATH, [player_tooltip player_id="49954" first="Richie" last="Frimpong"] WR, [player_tooltip player_id="49959" first="Gabe" last="Bombardier"] OL, [player_tooltip player_id="49962" first="Brody" last="Hanley"] DB
The Tigers return their second-leading rusher in Finley, coming off their best season since bumping up to 6A. He will be running behind one of the top left tackles in the state – Cochnauer and returning interior lineman Bombardier. Pass catchers Hanley and Frimpong also return to an offense that scored over forty points three times in six games. On the defensive side of the ball, they also bring back the team leader in interceptions – Weed.
Wayzata 13 seniors ranked by PRZ
[player_tooltip player_id="116206" first="Brett" last="Kelzenberg"] OL, [player_tooltip player_id="18442" first="Drew" last="Berkland"] DB, [player_tooltip player_id="49884" first="Fox" last="Knutson"] LB, [player_tooltip player_id="49897" first="Jack" last="Kinsey"] TE, [player_tooltip player_id="27459" first="Ryan" last="Harvey"] QB, [player_tooltip player_id="18450" first="Julian" last="Diedrich"] RB, [player_tooltip player_id="116482" first="Joe" last="Blom"] OL, [player_tooltip player_id="49910" first="Blake" last="Bergmann"] OL, [player_tooltip player_id="49911" first="Nate" last="Graham"] WR, [player_tooltip player_id="49913" first="Jaxon" last="Nelson"] DL, [player_tooltip player_id="49917" first="Gabriel" last="Colnoe"] ATH, Nick Ramier RB, [player_tooltip player_id="49922" first="Kai" last="Grunewald"] ATH
Although they won just two contests last season, the Trojans return a ton of talent in 2021. Offensively, when you return your starting quarterback – Harvey, three contributors on the offensive line – Kelzenberg and Blom and Bergmann, versatile tight end Kinsey and St. Thomas commit [player_tooltip player_id="18450" first="Julian" last="Diedrich"], you are off to a great start. On defense, leading tackler Berkland and Knutson - major contributor at linebacker - both return for the Trojans.
Burnsville 6 seniors ranked by PRZ
[player_tooltip player_id="49823" first="Colton" last="Gregersen"] DL, [player_tooltip player_id="18548" first="Mateo" last="Noriega"] OL, [player_tooltip player_id="116265" first="Dylan" last="Fischer"] DL, [player_tooltip player_id="18532" first="Jay" last="Homuth"] WR, [player_tooltip player_id="18553" first="Zane" last="Schneider"] DL, [player_tooltip player_id="49908" first="Bailey" last="Wishart"] QB
Like Wayzata, Burnsville struggled during the 2020 campaign; however, they bring back some talented players – including four players playing in the trenches. Noriega – who has committed to North Dakota State – will be holding down one offensive tackle spot. Fischer could be lined up over the nose on the defensive line, as a stand-up defensive end or an outside linebacker. Like Fischer, Gregerson is a defensive end/outside linebacker hybrid who is dangerous off the edge. Schneider will likely take over a spot in the front seven. Gregerson also brings his talents on the offensive side of the ball as an inside running fullback; he will be joined in the backfield by Wishart, a strong-armed, dual-threat quarterback.
