In 2019, they made it to the State Championship game against Bakersfield Christian and are looking to bounce back after the Spring season. Like they do every year, they have reloaded some top tier talent on both sides of the ball and will be one of the most dominant teams across the region this Fall. They roster a stiff defense with two of the most explosive players in the entire Bay Area and have good size and strength up front. Here, we will preview some of their top returning players and dive into some of their film from the Spring season.
DE Gino Mencarini, 2022
One of the top defenders in the North Bay, Mencarini is a dominant force on the defensive line for the Cougars and is a balanced player that can rush the passer while also plays stout against the run. A high motor technically sound player, he is a bully inside with the twitch to be a physical and explosive presence on the edge as well with good closing speed and converting speed to power in the short area. He is coming off a big Sophomore and Junior season and should continue his dominance in his Final season for the North Bay power.
DB/WR Sai Vadrawale, 2023
Holding a FBS offer from Nevada already, the 2023 prospect is one of the best natural athletes in all of Northern California and will be a lockdown corner and vertical threat on offense. Very explosive with the ball in his hands, he will be used in all three phases of the game and is easily one of the best 2023 prospects Northern California has to offer.
QB Liam Keaney, 2023
Keaney is going into his first Varsity season as the assumed starter and has some good arm talent from both inside and outside the pocket. He has a quick release while showing strong lower body throwing mechanics especially for his age, and can run/scramble when needed while able to throw on the run and across the field. He will have plenty of targets at his disposal this Fall and should be a top breakout candidate across the region.
DB/WR Ananias Walker, 2024
A extremely talented two-way player with great length and range, Walker is one of the best in the area regardless of class. As a Freshman starting at corner, he showed he has exceptional ball skills and the length to recover when needed while physical near the LOS and a natural peddler in space while understanding his responsibilities and not afraid to come up and play physical in the box.
