Continue ReadingThe year 2020 brought forth various changes and sacrifices in response to COVID-19 safety protocols. For athletes in the Omaha Public School system, this meant canceling sports for the fall season. The schools include; Omaha North, Omaha Burke, Omaha Central, Omaha South, Omaha Northwest, Omaha Benson, and Omaha Bryan that had to cancel their football seasons in 2020. In this article, we continue to highlight more players from this school system, coming out hungry and ready to make a statement.
Larry Moreland III Larry Moreland III 6'0" | 265 lbs | DL Omaha Central | 2022 State NE – DL – 6’1” 260 – Omaha Central
Larry Moreland and the Omaha Central DL will be a super tough unit in this upcoming season. Larry is a powerful defensive end that moves very quickly and shows a great first step at the snap of the ball. He is extremely slippery and does a great job shedding blocks and crashing running lanes. He is a very hard worker maintaining his strength in the weight room and honing his skills at summer camps. Having great running mates on the line will also help distribute the attention and allow Moreland to capitalize on matchups with less-experienced tackles. I’m excited to see what Larry has been cooking up since he last played a game.
Had lots of fun this past week at locker room camp man, most know I’ve been struggling with life and having personal issues and these are the people I could count on to be there , glad I can still call me self an eagle , got more to go now soon it’ll be time to see who wants it💪🏾 pic.twitter.com/9x3girvg9G

Kevin Newsome – RB/LB – 6’0” 190 lbs – Benson
Newsome is a name that may not be on many people’s radar, but I believe he will experience a breakout season. Kevin has been putting the work in the weight room and has added some size to his frame. He also boasts an impressive 4.5 40 time, and he has the wheels to run all over the field as an RB or a ’backer. It will be great to get some game film once the season starts up. Not having played football since he was a sophomore keeps him a low-key prospect, but with the tons of work he’s put it in, it will only be a matter of time before he’s catching some serious attention.

Deshawn Higgins – WR/DB/ATH – Omaha North
Deshawn Higgins is a name you should start getting more familiar with. Higgins is a player I consider to have tremendous upside and could play either defense or offense. One of my favorite aspects of his game is his football IQ (CLIP BELOW); Higgins’ route-running (footwork is clean!), and knowledge of where the soft spot will be allowed him to come back to the ball at the right time, as Safety he did an excellent job communicating what he saw from the offense and came up and broke up the pass. Despite missing a season’s worth of tape, Benedictine College has already been convinced of Higgins’ potential and made an offer; surely more will be in line for this talented young man.

Curtis Tchibozo Curtis Tchibozo 6'2" | 210 lbs | TE Omaha Northwest | 2022 State NE – OLB/TE/ATH – 6’2” 210 lbs – Omaha Northwest
Tchibozo is a player that will be a playmaker for the Northwest Huskies. He has good size at 6’2″ 210 lbs and possesses great mobility to fly around the field. I believe he will show that he can be an outstanding player on either side of the ball. On defense, he is an effective and quick pass rusher that could play an EDGE/DE hybrid and torture slow tackles all game long. Tchibozo plays fast and very physically; whether he’s tackling or blocking, he plays to the end of the play. It will also be nice to see him used more in the passing game, as he creates mismatches with his size and speed.
Good 7v7 today with the team!!! pic.twitter.com/cqFZNftyQE

Ceontre’ Brown – NG – 5’11” 212 lbs – Omaha North
If you watch the clip below, it looks like Ceontre’ has not missed a step. Brown is bound to shoot out of a cannon once the season starts; he has been practicing like he has a huge chip on his shoulder which is a scary thought. He plays with a low center of gravity and great leverage; combined with a quick first step, he is tough to block on the interior. Once he is in the backfield, the only endgame is destruction, which Brown does very well in stopping the run and getting to the quarterback. The Omaha North defense is looking to be a stingy group, and Ceontre’ will be setting the tone at the center of it.
Can’t wait for the season to start time to go to war💛💙‼️‼️‼️ #wartime #35 #govikings #family pic.twitter.com/NehvukEdlr

Donovan Moody – RB/WR/DB – Omaha Burke
Donovan Moody is going to be a dangerous weapon in a loaded Burke arsenal. He can change direction on a dime, has great acceleration, and should be one of the top two-way players this year. On offense, he will be lightning in a bottle as a versatile WR/RB that can be lined up anywhere. Moody’s shiftiness and top-flight speed will command the respect of the defense and call for some on-the-fly adjustments, perfect for the savvy back. Moody will also be lining up as a defensive back, showing huge upside as a cover corner. He moves very fluidly and has great instinct at the position, even capitalizing with some turnovers.
