The order referenced below of each athlete does not directly reflect his recruitment. You can be the #1 ranked player in the state and not be a Conference POY favorite. There are numerous variables which go into who is selected, including the team's overall success. Have a look at who I would have as the PIL's leading candidates for POY heading into the season.
OFFENSE
[player_tooltip player_id="143909" first="Justius" last="Lowe"] 22’ WR Lincoln-One of the fastest rising recruits in Oregon. Lowe had his way with most of the PIL schools, catching 5 TD passes, while adding four offers from Big Sky programs over the off season.
Donald Stephens Jr. 23’ RB Grant- Expect a big year from Chili who broke out as a freshman, putting together some impressive film in limited time. The Generals have a loaded backfield, but if DSJ gets his carries he could do special things.
[player_tooltip player_id="108143" first="Imarion" last="Kelly"] 22’ QB/ATH Roosevelt- Kelly has size and is one of the most versatile kids in the state. Expect him to be one of the league and maybe even state leaders in total yards, as he will continuously have the ball in his hands.
[player_tooltip player_id="28849" first="Jae’Sean" last="Pete"] 22’ ATH Grant- Pete broke out as a Sophomore earning 2nd team all-conference accolades. He is more of a slot, and deadly in space. Look for him to move out on the perimeter and also be listed as one of the top return men in Oregon.
[player_tooltip player_id="28841" first="Dondrae" last="Fair"] 22’ QB Jefferson- Fair is special and has some of that "it" factor. It will come down to how Jeff does as a team and whether or not he is able to exploit some of his unique ability. His early D1 offers from the likes of Indiana speak to his potential.
DEFENSE
[player_tooltip player_id="143908" first="Brady" last="Kopetz"] 22’ LB Lincoln- Look for Koptez to add a handful of additional D1 offers before he is done. The 3* LB has the size (6-4 220) and demeanor to be considered one of the top backers in the west with continued progression.
[player_tooltip player_id="110183" first="Jayden" last="Moses"] 23’ RB/LB Grant- Moses had an outstanding Sophomore season, after being the only player at the 6A level to earn all-conference honors as a freshman. He is physical, fast and plays with a no non sense demeanor.
[player_tooltip player_id="28831" first="Trejon" last="Williams"] 22’ DB Jefferson- Currently a 4* recruit and the #1 ranked player in Oregon for the class of 2022. Trejon’s accolades will be dependent upon how Jeff does as a team and whether or not they can come together. His ranking speaks for itself.
[player_tooltip player_id="28878" first="Max" last="Von Arx"] 22’ WR/LB Grant- Really like this kid. Not a lot of people know about him, but he could be one of the top two-way threats in the state. His overall athleticism and size (6-4 210) will help make him one of the most dominant players in the PIL.
[player_tooltip player_id="108154" first="Kenny" last="Duncan"] 22’ DB Roosevelt- Look for Duncan Jr. to be one of the PIL statistical leaders defensively. Coach McCants has done a great job and will have special senior leadership, led by the likes of Duncan, Kelly and [player_tooltip player_id="108153" first="Lindell" last="Betts"].
