This prospect list was meant for programs that are outside of a major city nearby because we love to give the small school programs the love! Because I am such a geography nut, I found this project fun, and hopefully, it’s just as fun for Nebraska college football programs to find these prospects before they leave to one of those rival states they might border! Enjoy.
Xander Provance | Athlete | Chadron | 2023
Provance is a prospect that can do a little of everything on all sides of the field. I really enjoyed watching his quick get-off to evade defenders as he looked very athletic while on the move. He also showed off a solid motor and one that can accelerate well especially in the return game. Provance also has solid alertness as a playmaker that can do a lot with a little. You will for sure see Provance on our 2023 rankings when they come out.
Quade Myers Quade Myers 5'11" | 185 lbs | ATH Dundy County Stratton | 2022 State NE | Quarterback | Dundy County Stratton | 2022
Myers has some absolutely terrific speed, to say the least. He doesn’t have just solid straight-line speed he also has some elusiveness in plenty on his runs and can shed tackles quite easily. Myers also has another skill set I look for which is his high stamina level, as he took a 98-yard run to the house, and even though he was nearly at the end zone, he showed the longevity he has in his runs. He also showed solid touch on his deeper balls in some of his passing reps. Myers is a small school gem that needs to be on more coach’s radars.
Jaden Nolte | Defensive Tackle/Tackle | Falls City | 2022
Man oh man can Nolte pack a punch. I use the word crash a lot when I see a prospect dive deep into the inside rushing lanes but I might need to find a new term to describe this young man as he can certainly lay the hammer inside. He does this consistently across his film too which is a sign it’s a skill set he will carry well over to the next level. Nolte also has some solid endurance in his 6’6 285-pound body as he’s a prospect if the ball doesn’t go up to his lane he can still make a play on the football further upfield than you will see most defensive tackles go. I am really surprised this young man is not on more college boards, as he’s also been a three-year starter and two-time and will likely be a three-time all-district performer once his time is done in Falls City.

Braden Thompson Braden Thompson 6'4" | 220 lbs | TE Nebraska City | 2022 State NE | Tight End | Nebraska City | 2022
Thompson is a matchup liability no matter where he lines up on the football field. This is a young man that has a solid reach for football regardless of where the football is going in his direction. He has some strong lower body strength to turn short gains into sufficient gains with his strong burst and downhill running ability. Thompson is also a tight end that is a dependable blocker upfield and one that can block on the line efficiently as well. He will not be a TE prospect you need to put a ton of weight on at 6’4 220 and a few Division I programs have already seen that in the Ohio Valley Conference with a few FCS offers on the table.
Thomas Fields | Defensive End/Tackle | Falls City | 2022
Fields put in solid work as far as shedding off blockers. He doesn’t make the biggest contact level I have ever seen but he makes a ton of plays up the middle. When he gets a solid jump off the snap, he shows disruption in the backfield and has an elusiveness to his game. Another skillset I like about his game is his vision as when the ball is getting taken outside he does a solid job at identifying where he needs to be to make a play on the ball. Fields will need to add some size to play defensive end at the next level but I see him as a solid small school prospect.
Christian Meneses Christian Meneses 5'11" | 185 lbs | RB Plattsmouth | 2022 State NE | Running Back | Plattsmouth | 2022
It’s really hard for me to determine why this young man does not have his first offer yet based on the film I watched. Meneses has such solid footwork when running from north to south and the bulk of his large gains I watched show really solid vision and patience with the football. With that running ability, he also has a well-put-together frame (5’11, 185) to shed off plenty of tacklers in the bulk of the clips that I saw on tape. What is one of the best plays Meneses made on tape I saw? I learned about this young man’s motor really quick when I saw his QB throw an interception and he showed excellent hustle upfield to save the Blue Devils a touchdown. That hustle alone is college football material, and I hope to see Meneses get a scholarship opportunity this fall as he was All-State as a junior and logged 1740 all-purpose yards and 20 touchdowns to go along with it.
Brady Brown | Wide Receiver | Blair | 2024
Brown is one of the youngest prospects you will see on this list but put together some excellent film as a freshman. He already shows signs of a scholarship-level prospect as just an incoming sophomore as this kid has some elusive footwork when the ball is in his hands. He also shows the solid range for his size (5’10, 165) and is a player you will see give excellent effort to play a play on the football. He shows a very solid balance on the tougher grabs you will see on his freshmen tape. I have this young man as a lock to be on our upcoming Class of 2024 rankings as he already has a high ceiling for his age with size that I am sure will get bigger and stronger as the years go by into his upperclassmen years.
J’shawn Unger J’shawn Unger 6'4" | 205 lbs | ATH Blair | 2024 State NE | Wide Receiver | Blair | 2024
Something is brewing in the Class of 2024 for the Bears receiving core and another solid prospect we are talking about today is WR J’shawn Unger J’shawn Unger 6'4" | 205 lbs | ATH Blair | 2024 State NE . Unger already has solid size at 6’3 as just a freshman, but I was really impressed with this young man’s ability to adjust on the fly depending on where the ball was thrown at a young age. You will see it on tape, but do not be surprised to see Unger as a red zone threat in the 2021 season for the Bears, as this young man has a lot of potential he will uncover over the next few years.
Dawson Dunbar | Athlete | Chadron | 2022
Dunbar was another intriguing prospect I found the film on out of Chadron. This young man is not the biggest kid you will see on the field but has a loaded plate of athleticism. I especially like him on short routes out the backfield as he has solid footwork to juke defenders out of their shoes. Dunbar gives you plenty of options out of the backfield as he shows quality precision on his throws with a solid touch and of course, he can take off and run as he has solid endurance that can flip the field if he wants to.
Cody Johnson | Quarterback | Morrill | 2023
Johnson is a raw quarterback prospect that has some potential in my eyes. He shows his best work inside the pocket and throws a solid deep ball. The one development Johnson can work on is his arch on his throws as although he shows solid percison in giving his wide receivers what they want as far as placement if he can take a little arch off of it he has an opportunity to be a solid small school prospect. I also think his mechanics on his shorter throws could also get better, but the great thing is he has two more seasons to develop on these skill sets.
