Ryder Gregory
Ryder Gregory 5'10" | 175 lbs | ATH | 2023
KY
This list includes players from Hardin County (Central Hardin, North Hardin, John Hardin, and Elizabethtown), Bullitt (North Bullitt, Bullitt Central, Bullitt East*), Meade County HS, Spencer County HS, and the outer loop of Louisville (Fern Creek, Eastern, Western, Southern, Christian Academy of Louisville, Moore*, Doss*). Over week 1 these were the top performing QBs, RBs and Receivers in the Central Kentucky area ; 1) Devon Rogers #4 QB/DB Jr. (John Hardin) Devon Rogers was accountable for 5 TD’s in the season opener. Getting 2 passing TDs, 3 Rushing TDs, and a pick-six. Also racking up 258 total yards, 105 rushing, 96 passing, and 56 from 2 interception returns. Rogers is a player with a future and has all the tools and weapons to succeed, Devon can play DB effectively, run effectively, and the little passing he did do led to success. The problem is finding what he is best at, because he excels at everything, a true athlete and leader for the Bulldogs. 2) Zachary Shofner #2 RB Sr. (Bullitt Central) Zachary ran for almost 300 yard on Friday (291 to be exact), and punched in 5 touchdowns. This 5’10 running back averaged 11 yards a carry and had exceptional day being able to break free and take advantage of any open field he was given. Having such a strong start Shofner shows no signs of slowing down as he is playing his best football every time he steps out on a field, constantly improving. Zachary will likely be a ranked player by seasons end if he continues this play, and has the potential to carry his success far past this as well. 3) [player_tooltip player_id="148412" first="Keyandre" last="Strand"] #28 RB Sr. (John Hardin) [player_tooltip player_id="148412" first="Keyandre" last="Strand"] rushed for 232 yards in John Hardin’s season opener against LaRue County, as he was by far the main reason John ran away with this game. Anytime they needed to get a spark, convert a third down, or open up the passing game, they gave it to Keyandre. Averaging 14 yards a carry, LaRue had no answer, as KeyAndre would burst past them, and push off anybody fast enough to catch up with a very reliable stiff arm move he used throughout the game. 4) Timarton Rogers WR/RB #21 Sr. (Southern) Timarton rushed twice, and got 2 rushing TDs. Rogers also caught one, and that was for a TD too. Timarton Rogers is a scoring machine, LITERALLY every time he touched the ball (offensively) he would score. A master at jukes and fakes, this team would open the field up for Rogers and let him do work to the players who had to defend him that day. Rogers is a complete and dominant player who only needs one opportunity and he scores. 5) Gregory Hall RB #25 Sr. (Elizabethtown) Gregory was everywhere on the field, he is a leader for their team and has a burst of speed. Constantly making himself involved in every play, as a senior you can tell he wants to make the most of this season. Starting off strong, in his first game he scored 2 rushing TD’s with both coming off of strong inside blocking and fast acceleration by Hall. Juking and foot movement were there but sometimes led to his short runs getting stopped. Hall tries to get a lot done in each play which for this team isn’t a bad thing, as they won 21- 7 in their home opener. 6) Xayven Stoner RB #4 Sr. (Fern Creek) Rushing only 8 times but racking up 2 TDs, Stoner came to score. One play accounted for almost half his yards, as he used an insane burst of speed to complete a 47 yard TD run. More opportunities com Xayven’s way and he will probably have the same result, everytime he touched the ball there was a score soon to follow for Fern Creek. Xayven Stoner is Fern Creek’s #1 player this week. 7) [player_tooltip player_id="194512" first="Ryder" last="Gregory"] QB #6 Jr. (Elizabethtown) Playing exceptional while under pressure, Gregory was a major reason the running attack did so well. Gregory, like Hall, had some great blocking and when the pocket collapsed he would still throw completions and when the pocket completely collapsed he always knew when to start running, with only one sack getting him while he was unaware, his presence was almost perfect in Elizabethtown’s home opener. While I personally haven’t met Gregory he got me engaged in the game, always getting the crowd involved and was great at executing the plays, while North had 2 flags for play clock running out, Gregory and Ross Brown (Etowns Head Coach) were always on the line on time, and time to make some adjustments. Ryder is a great field general and not someone who relies on his feet as he throws lots of completions. 8) Shaun Rose #2 WR Jr. (North Hardin) Constantly was open through the game due to great footwork and route running. Shaun scored the only TD and was exceptional at beating his defender right off line. Needed more throws his way to show his true potential, WR to watch in the future. 9) [player_tooltip player_id="144978" first="Easton" last="Messer"] WR #87 Sr. (Christian Academy of Louisville) Easton was a great threat at any point, he caught 7 throws for 2 TDs. Messer was using all different ways to get open and gain extra yard, as a senior he made it seem effortless as CAL beatdown on their opponents in week 1, winning by 20 points. [player_tooltip player_id="144978" first="Easton" last="Messer"] is WR with a lot to offer any team he is a part of. 10) TiJuan Mcafee-Young QB #7 Sr. (Western) Around 50% accuracy, TiJuan had solid pocket awareness and 2 step into a throw. Mcafee-Young had some trouble getting defender off him in the back field but supplemented those problems with 2TDs and 152 passing yards. TiJuan Mcafee-Young is a QB prospect who has made the most out his opener, although a loss, he didn’t show any error or flaw in his game. Prospect QB on the rise. Honorable Mention : [player_tooltip player_id="148562" first="Steven" last="Rios"] TE #45 Fr. (North Bullitt) Rios is already in our top ranked players in the state currently bouncing between #100 all the way up to #50. Steven is a task to tackle as he always invites contact with his big body and he trucked several defenders. On the scoring drive Rios converted a 3rd down and had several runs and catches to get them down the field. Steven not scoring was due to defensive line play and flags, as he racked up a good amount of yards just never had a chance to punch it in. Rios is a player with a bright future and showed a lot of talent in week 1.
