A lot of prospects don’t want to focus on their recruitment and take lots of visits when all they really want to do is end their final season on a high note. Multiple prospects took visits throughout the month of June, and many of them decided to end their recruitment before practices started this week.
Here are a few peach-state prospects who made their college decision this week…
Jack Luttrell – ATH – Hebron Christian Academy
He may not be a rising senior, but the athletic two-way player from Hebron Christian Academy knew where he wanted to play his college ball, so he decided to end his recruitment early and commit to the Tennessee Volunteers. The sophomore from Dacula was a big target last year for South Carolina Gamecock signee Colten Gautheir, and he made the most of it with 45 catches for 778 yards and 4 TDs. He was a big-play threat all year for the Lions and proved that he was one of the biggest deep-ball threats in the region. He has a knack for making big plays down the field and even reeled in an 85-yard TD reception at one point during the season. Luttrell was one of the most productive sophomore receivers across the state last year and is expected to be a reliable target in the Lions’ passing game again this fall. He can also make plays on defense, and many think he’ll line up at safety when he gets to Knoxville. Either way, he still has two years to make a LOT of plays at the high school level.
Dayne Shor Dayne Shor 6'6" | 295 lbs | OL King's Ridge Christian | 2022 State GA – OL – Denmark
One of the state’s top offensive line prospects in the 2022 class, Shor has made his way back to Denmark for his final season in hopes of making a deep playoff run for the Danes in 7A this fall. Shor missed his junior season due to shoulder injury but his sophomore film, size, and overall talent was still enough to earn him a spot to play for the Alabama Crimson Tide. The best program in college football right now, The Tide produce offensive line prospects as well as any program in the country, so they know good ones when they see them. They don’t offer just everyone, so adding Shor to the commit list says a lot about how much the Tide like his upside. The 6-foot-6 290-pounder chose Alabama over Oklahoma, Oregon, Texas A&M, Tennessee, among others.
Cooper Johnson – TE – West Forsyth
The West Forsyth Wolverines may have the best TE tandem across the state this fall. They have the nation’s top tight end prospect on board in four-star Oscar Delp Oscar Delp 6'5" | 220 lbs | TE West Forsyth | 2022 State GA , but they also have 2022 tight end Cooper Johnson to help make plays for the offense this fall. The 6-foot-3 225-pounder may have played in Delps’ shadow a little bit in 2020, but he should see more opportunities coming his way as a senior. He’s a good pass-catcher with size and the ability to block on the edge. He got a big offer from Charleston Southern this summer, and Johnson jumped at the opportunity and committed in late July. He’ll be a tight end to know in the region this fall.
