2022 Prospects without FBS/FCS Offers: Mid-August
In this article:
It’s almost the fall of 2021 and we are back with our Without Offers series! Our main goal on Prep Redzone is to help under-the-radar names get extra exposure in the recruiting area. These pieces, that highlight impact players without FBS or FCS offers, are proven to help those in need of extra attention. Without further ado, here are seven talented senior prospects that need to be on coach’s radars this fall!
Sincere Thomas | 5’9, 155 | SWR/ATH | 2022
There is a vast list of prospects who are still without offers. I mean it when I say Sincere Thomas, PRZPA’s All-UX 2021 1st-Team selection, maybe the best prospect to still be held without enough looks. Pure and polished play-maker. Best way to describe the stud athlete who can beat you with his acceleration, feet, or hands. Can’t help but think that size and stature is the only thing holding Thomas back in the recruiting. When you check off so many boxes, whether that be his route-running ability, his awareness in the open field, his pure acceleration with the ball in his hands, the good should outweigh any concerns with his size. The senior has reclassified in hopes to find a home. Get on this kid quick. His tape doesn’t need much of a breakdown, it speaks for itself.
Liam Soto | 6’2, 290 | OL | Archbishop Ryan | 2022
Huge fan of Saunders and Carrion, two studs along Northeast’s offensive line. Not sure how on Earth I missed Liam Soto, who has transferred to Archbishop Ryan to finish out his high school career. Contributes at left and right guard who moves so well. A ton of strength and discipline in this kid’s game. Really good hat placement when run blocking, second-level vision is a plus as well. The footwork is efficient when pulling, as it is when disengaging and reaching next level. Can be trusted to finish his assignment, blocks with an attitude you want to see from interior linemen. Incredible motor, he’s going to take his assignment to the sideline if the whistle doesn’t blow! This kid not appearing on our rankings is a pure mistake, that’ll change. As far as recruitment is concerned, his tape shows significant power and drive, his measurables are prototypical. He may just need more exposure, that’s where we can help.
Gavin Smith Gavin Smith 5'9" | 175 lbs | QB York Suburban | 2022 PA | 5’9, 175 | QB | York Suburban | 2022
Gavin Smith Gavin Smith 5'9" | 175 lbs | QB York Suburban | 2022 PA ’s slow recruitment is understandable. The senior has less than ideal size when projecting to the quarterback position. His production as a whole was low as well. He’s going to have a change of scenery at York Suburban, where hopefully he can continue to show off the athleticism he has, whether that be under center or not. He’s a talented thrower, can put some zip on the ball, and is adept at being accurate when his launch point is moved out of the pocket. Just have to see more out of Smith to really designate where he is best suited on the field. I’m more interested in his future at YS and where they plan to use him. He’s got wiggle and can be a factor when taking off behind the line of scrimmage. Big Fall for Gavin Smith Gavin Smith 5'9" | 175 lbs | QB York Suburban | 2022 PA .
Rolando Hall Jr. | 6’2, 186 | DB | Imhotep Charter | 2022
Sekye Miles | RB | Imhotep Charter | 2022
We will group both Imhotep prospects as both have limited film to evaluate. Coaches and teammates have raved about both of these players. I’m a fan of what I saw out of the 2021 NEXTGEN All-American Safety Rolando Hall Jr. I think the kid deserves a spot on our rankings, just want to see more production. His build and frame are exemplary. Long limbs with feet that can move. He’s capable of solid run-support after reading the run. The Stewart-Hall tandem will be fun to watch. Much like Gavin, I want to see more. I can see the potential in both of these prospects off of their builds alone, but that won’t cut it. Let’s put the game on tape.
Jordin Jones Jordin Jones 5'9" | 180 lbs | RB Penn Wood | 2022 State PA | 5’9, 180 | ATH/RB | Penn Wood | 2022
This kid has put his game on tape for all to see. Much like Thomas, Jordin Jones Jordin Jones 5'9" | 180 lbs | RB Penn Wood | 2022 State PA is one of the more electric play-makers Pennsylvania has to offer, literally! Offer this kid! Track-star speed that allows him to torch defenders on sweeps and outside-zone runs. The overall foot speed alone can be so overt that defenders can’t take good angles on the Penn Wood star. Alignment versatility is a huge plus. He can beat you from the slot, outside the numbers with his speed, or from the running back spot where he wastes no time bursting upfield. Huge fan of this kid’s game. No doubt a college program could use this prospect’s athleticism. Great 0-60 acceleration, great overall foot speed with or without the ball. That alignment versatility is also positional, he can provide reps at defensive back where he controls that athleticism a bit and converts it into smooth hips and feet. The senior debuted on our rankings as a top-100 player in his class.
Amani Clark-Bey Amani Clark-Bey 5'8" | 185 lbs | ATH Kiski Prep | 2022 State PA | 5’8, 185 | RB/ATH | Kiski Prep | 2022
Last on the list is an intriguing prospect out of Kiski Prep. Kid who contributes at running back and linebacker. The ladder is where I prefer him. Can get skinny in the trenches when blitzing, great timing as well. Love his pursuit of the quarterback/ball carrier after getting through into the backfield. Breaks down well in space and at the point of attack. Plays his curl-zone well. Has a solid eye for passing lanes which is paired up with his solid ability to diagnose. Going to need to see a huge production boost on either side of the football his senior campaign in order to see recruitment heat up.
