Looking back into our new #PRZTN 2023 Top 100, here we breakdown the top running backs for next year's class and how they currently sit within our underclassmen rankings.
‘23 (RB) [player_tooltip player_id="102265" first="Zamaryion" last="Kendall"] (6'0 195) - Henry Co. (RB Ranked: 1st State Ranked: 23rd)
- Currently considered the top back for the ‘23 class, Kendall is a big, punishing back with deceptive speed and the ability to catch the ball out of the backfield. What Kendall brings to the table is a little bit of everything, including the willingness to block. The Patriots star back is a high character young man too, so he provides a lot of value to not only the backfield but the locker room as well.
Offers: Memphis, MTSU, Western Carolina
Sophomore Film: https://www.hudl.com/video/3/12911927/5fc5b336bd6acd0a38e3208d
‘23 (RB) [player_tooltip player_id="102176" first="DeSean" last="Bishop"] (5'11 190) - Karns (RB Ranked: 2nd State Ranked: 33rd)
- Bishop could be looked at as the most dynamic and athletic back we have for the 2023 class and his talents are just now being uncovered by collegiate coaches. A balanced back with size and speed, Bishop has the tools to put together a monster junior campaign and push his recruitment into another stratosphere. Bishop is a talented guy with his best football days ahead of him.
Offers: Eastern Ky, Tennessee
Sophomore Film: https://www.hudl.com/video/3/11346372/5f81f9c9f56aeb0958b30d2d
‘23 (RB) [player_tooltip player_id="102288" first="Ahmad" last="Miller"] (6'0 195) - Briarcrest Christian (RB Ranked: 3rd State Ranked: 37th)
- Many may not know about Miller right now but they will by the time this upcoming Fall football season is over. This Memphis area running back sports a great combo of size, speed and lower base agility along with a great attitude and high work ethic. This coming junior season will be Miller's 1st shot at the full time role with the Saints and I expect him to take it and run with it all the way into college football.
Offers: None

‘23 (RB) [player_tooltip player_id="102246" first="Tre" last="Hartwell"] (6'0 220) - Independence (RB Ranked: 4th State Ranked: 42nd)
- Sporting the size that Hartwell does, you wouldn't think he is an outstanding pass catcher out of the backfield but he is and he may be the best at it in the state. The Eagles rising junior can not only punish you when running downhill but he can also fan out into the field and be a dependable receiver. He is also a willing blocker too. You can easily see why Hartwell has the offers he has and why he will add more.
Offers: Arkansas St., Eastern Ky, Tulane
Sophomore Film: https://www.hudl.com/video/3/13623743/5f5cd2a49a9b8d0ac8564d46
‘23 (RB) [player_tooltip player_id="102256" first="Jai" last="Hundley"] (5'9 180) - Knox. West (RB Ranked: 5th State Ranked: 72nd)
- A dynamic back with a 2nd gear, Hundley is a talented prospect that will be looking to break out this coming season and establish himself as one of the top in-state running backs for the ‘23 class. Hundley is a versatile back that can lower the shoulder, run around defenders or catch the ball out of the backfield. Hundley fits the mold of and translates to the next level as a 3rd down back in the collegiate ranks.
Offers: None
Sophomore Film: https://www.hudl.com/video/3/12993536/5fbba08d041ef309e8314a0d
‘23 (RB) [player_tooltip player_id="102300" first="Stef" last="Ponder"] (6'0 190) - Father Ryan (RB Ranked: 6th State Ranked: 77th)
- Ponder has placed himself on the scene and in these rankings after a strong offseason of spring and summer camps. A big guy with an agile lower base, Ponder sports a frame that can take on added weight while having the mobility needed for his position. He is also a hard worker that has consistently worked at bettering his craft. Watch out for Ponder to breakout during his upcoming junior season.
Offers: None
Sophomore Film: https://www.hudl.com/video/3/8428732/5f90f173ab9d210a5c70044d
‘23 (RB) [player_tooltip player_id="102173" first="Trevon" last="Barfield"] (5'11 185) - Knox. West (RB Ranked: 7th State Ranked: 88th)
- The 2nd part of a dynamic duo with Hundley at West High School, Barfield might be the guy with the most talent of the two and the one with the biggest upside on the college level. Barfield is a big play threat waiting to happen that can spring a short gain into a long touchdown very quickly. He does need to keep developing his overall game but the talents are there to play in the college game.
Offers: Eastern Ky
Sophomore Film: https://www.hudl.com/video/3/12993125/5f81e2bd478ce60a10a3ffd2
‘23 (RB) [player_tooltip player_id="102285" first="Isiah" last="McClaine"] (5'8 195) - Lexington (RB Ranked: 8th State Ranked: 90th)
- McClaine heads into his junior season as one of the leading returning rushers in the state and is poised for Mr. Football honors by season's end. He is also hoping to put himself on the map to be recruited. McClaine certainly has the tools and talents to see that happen. He is a well balanced, punishing back with breakaway, deceptive speed. McClaine is a force for his Tigers offense that college coaches should learn about as soon as possible.
Offers: None
