The Eagles are loaded with D1 talent and they’re full of multi-year starters of offense. Defensively, they have one of the top players in the country getting after the quarterback.
Here are a few players to know at Milton this spring and into the 2021 season…
Lebbeus Overton Lebbeus Overton 6'4" | 245 lbs | DL Milton | 2022 GA
He may be a junior, but the 6-foot-4 270-pound edge defender is an easy 5-star due to his size, explosiveness, and natural playmaking ability. As a sophomore last season, Overton made 21.5 sacks (leading the state) and proved to be one of the top pass-rushers in the country regardless of class. The young man has “SPECIAL” written all over him, and it’s led to offers from Georgia, Alabama, Texas &M, Oklahoma, Stanford, Ohio State, and many more. He’s the top-ranked 2023 prospect not only in Georgia, but in the country as well. Look for the 5-star to have another monster season as a junior.
Mo Clipper Jr
On offense, Milton’s breakout recruit this spring was the veteran offensive lineman, Mo Clipper Jr. The massive 6-foot-6 300+ pounder already looks like an SEC lineman from a physical standpoint and recently committed to play football at Tennessee. He has good size, years of starting experience in 7A, and he moves well for someone with his frame. Look for Clipper Jr. to anchor one of the top offensives in North Georgia this year and possibly get some playing time on defense too.
Jordan McDonald Jordan McDonald 6'1" | 215 lbs | RB Milton | 2022 State GA
One of the top running backs in the state, McDonald is a bowling ball of a running back who loves contact and shredding tackles. He’s so strong in the upper and lower body and does a great job of breaking tackles and wearing down defenses as the game goes along. The 6-foot-0 210-pounder holds offers from FSU, Georgia Tech, LSU, Tennessee, Florida, South Carolina, among others. McDonald rushed for 1,338 yards and found the end-zone 22 times last fall. Expect him to be one of the state’s leading rushers again as a senior.
Devin Farrell Devin Farrell 6'0" | 190 lbs | QB Milton | 2022 State GA
If the Eagles make a state championship run this fall, it might come down to the play of Farrell. One of the most athletic QBs in North Georgia, Farrell is a dual-threat quarterback who can take off and pick up big yards with his legs when he needs too. His arm continues to get better, and a bigger, stronger arm as a senior could lead to even more explosiveness for the Milton offense. As a junior last year, Farrell threw for 1,812 yards and 13 touchdowns. He also rushed for 553 yards and 5 touchdowns. Farrell is committed to play for Virginia Tech.
Jack Nickel Jack Nickel 6'4" | 230 lbs | TE Milton | 2022 State GA – TE/DE
One of the top overall athletes on the team, Nickel is an experienced player who will bring size, physicality, and a veteran presence to the offense this fall. He’s an excellent blocker on the edge but he’s shown over the years that he’s a threat in the passing game as well. The 6-foot-4 230-pounder has caught 50 passes in his Milton career for 634 yards and 5 total touchdowns. The former Notre Dame commitment is currently committed to play at Michigan State.
Debron Gatling Debron Gatling 6'2" | 180 lbs | WR Milton | 2024 State GA
One of the top 2024 prospects in the state, the athletic receiver is coming off an impressive freshman season last year where he caught 21 passes for 333 yards and 2 touchdowns. The 6-foot-1 180-pounder shows great hands, knows how to get open, and makes the game look easy for someone his age. Look for his numbers to continue to increase this fall as a sophomore. He currently holds offers from Georgia, LSU, Tennessee. Texas &M, FSU, Georgia Tech, among others.
Bryce Thornton Bryce Thornton 5'11" | 190 lbs | DB Milton | 2023 State GA
One of the top 2023 defensive backs in the state, Thornton is an athletic defender at 5-foot-11 185-pounds who has done a great job of adding weight and muscle to his lean, athletic frame. He has great ball skills, changes direction well, and is consistently one of the fastest players on the field. As a junior, Thornton will play some running back too to go along with him starting in the secondary. He’s a good-looking prospect with two more years to develop and prove why he’s one of the best in his class. Thornton currently holds offers from Georgia, Tennessee, UCF, Oregon, and Miami.

Top Games in 2021:
8/27 at North Cobb:
The North Cobb Warriors are stacked with lots of weapons on offense including two future D1 wide receivers and one of the top 2023 QBs in the country in Malachi Singleton Malachi Singleton 6'2" | 210 lbs | QB North Cobb | 2023 State GA . Senior cornerback Marquis Groves-Killebrew Marquis Groves-Killebrew 6'0" | 180 lbs | DB Brookwood | 2022 State GA will lead the secondary, and he’s committed to play at Georgia. Defensive end Joshua Josephs is coming off an excellent junior season and one of the top defenders in all of North Georgia. The winner of this game could be considered one of the favorites to win the 7A state title.
9/11 at St. Josephs Prep:
At one of the top programs in Georgia, Milton has no problem stepping up and playing one of the nations’ best. They’ll have their hands full with St. Josephs Prep, a program that consistently produces high level D1 talent each year. The Hawks went 6-0 in a shortened season last year but look to be back and ready to compete at a high level once again in 2021. This might be the matchup of the week across the country.
10/22 at Roswell:
One of the biggest rivalries in all of Georgia, the Milton/Roswell game is going to be a fun one to watch this fall. The Hornets are a respectable program trying to push for a state championship while Milton is knocking on the door. This game is going to be full of talent on both sides, and the winner could be the region champion this fall. The entire community will be out there for this one, ans it should be one of the biggest games across the state that weekend.
