Prep Redzone looks at a few players that we think you should monitor in the Big Central’s 1A and 1B Divisions this upcoming season.
1A DIVISION
DELAWARE VALLEY
Jack Bill/QB/2023
Bill completed 79-of-120 passes for 1,027 yards and three touchdowns during the 2020 season. He also rushed 58 times for 516 yards and four touchdowns. His dual-threat status is stamped.
[player_tooltip player_id="28034" first="Logan" last="Blake"]/LB/2022
Blake made 43 total tackles, sacked the quarterback once, and forced one fumble last season.
Matt Schneider/OL-DL/2022
BOUND BROOK
[player_tooltip player_id="28054" first="Patrick" last="LePoidevin"]/6-5/200/QB/2022
LePoidevin completed 71-of-115 passes for 1,405 yards, 22 touchdowns, and five interceptions last season. He also carried the football 62 times for 293 yards and eight touchdowns.
[player_tooltip player_id="172127" first="Sharrod" last="Tedder"]/5-8/160/WR/2022
Tedder caught 18 passes for 347 yards and seven touchdowns last season. His coaches made it a point to get the football in his hands by any means necessary. Tedder carried the football 45 times for 405 yards and three touchdowns too.
BELVIDERE
[player_tooltip player_id="172125" first="Justin" last="Connors"]/6-0/185/LB/2022
Connors ended up with a linebacker designation but I will acknowledge his 40 carries for 340 yards and two touchdowns from the 2020 season. He made 29 total tackles on the defensive side of the football.
[player_tooltip player_id="172128" first="Nick" last="Mourry"]/OL-DL/2022
[player_tooltip player_id="172129" first="Michael" last="Prospero"]/DE/2022
VOORHEES
Brody Shaner/6-3/300/OL/2022
Josh Reid/5-10/180/WR/2022
Reid caught 12 passes for 371 yards and four touchdowns last season. He made the most out of the targets he received in the passing game.
Mike Mosier/5-8/165/LB/2022
Mosier racked up 48 total tackles in eight games last season. He’s a two-sport athlete who also wrestles.
Will Letters/5-10/160/QB/2022
Letters made contributions to his team’s offense with his arm and legs during the 2020 season. He completed 40-of-92 passes for 880 yards for six touchdowns and 13 interceptions. He also rushed 790 times for 483 yards and three touchdowns. If he can cut down on the turnovers (seven of his interceptions came in two games), Letters’ quarterback rating will improve dramatically.
SOUTH HUNTERDON
[player_tooltip player_id="172131" first="Bode" last="Dunn"]/6-0/200/DE/2023
Dunn put in work on both sides of the football last season. He made 39 total tackles (13 solo) on defense and carried the football 42 times for 174 yards and four touchdowns.
[player_tooltip player_id="172132" first="Nick" last="Venettone"]/6-0/160/WR/2022
Venettone caught 19 passes for 376 yards and two touchdowns during the 2020 season.
MANVILLE
Ryan Oset/6-0/240/OL/2023
Geoffrey Mathis/5-9/240/OL/2023
Nico Ayala/5-7/225/OL/2022
Shawn Purcell/5-11/145/RB/2023
Purcell contributed on both sides of the football last season. He rushed for 157 yards and two touchdowns and caught eight passes for 127 yards and one touchdown in 2020.
1B DIVISION
New Providence
[player_tooltip player_id="28019" first="Anthony" last="Kaspereen"]/6-5/280/OL-DL/2022
Kaspereen’s future is probably on the offensive side of the ball at tackle. However, it’s hard to ignore his 55 total tackles and two sacks during the 2020 season.
[player_tooltip player_id="27997" first="Charlie" last="Barth"]/6-0/215/LB-RB/2022
I have mentioned Barth’s name several times in the past few months. He’s a beast on both sides of the football. Barth carried the football 186 times for 1,702 yards and 25 touchdowns last year. He made 115 tackles on defense last season while putting in all of that work on offense. He’s the accurate definition of a two-way player. Barth excels on both sides of the football.
BREARLY
Kevin Barcelo/6-4/250/OL/2023
Quinn Lonergan/RB/2022
DAYTON
Wali Nickerson/6-3/245/OL/2022
ROSELLE PARK
