Luckily for the Yellow Jackets, they are returning a few key pieces and expect them to grow together and have a big year. They have some large expectations this year and last year was just a building block.
Last year, they averaged over 37 ppg last year and went up and down the field. Defensively, they only gave up 17 ppg and some of those points would come late in the game. The Yellow Jackets officially start their season on August 13th on the road at Whitmer at 7 pm. They then have a 2 game home stint against Dublin Jerome and Findlay.
Perrysburg’s offense rides on the back of starting RB Connor Walendzak Connor Walendzak 5'11" | 195 lbs | RB Perrysburg | 2023 OH . Walendzak is a decent athlete and is a nice size. He’s 5’11 and 195 lbs. He’s got decent speed and is able to get the corner on some plays. He’s got decent vision and will lower his head and take a hit to clear the path.
Some of the runs for the offense get opened up by Mike Seney. Seney is 6’3″ and 260 lbs. He’s an interior lineman and plays both C and G. He’s versatile and can play any 3 of those spots. He’s the leader of that line and for good reason. They’re expecting Seney to have a big year and lead the way offensively.
Defensively, Perrysburg is relying on Kanyon Gagich Kanyon Gagich 5'11" | 175 lbs | DB Perrysburg | 2022 OH . The FS has natural instincts on the field and plays with quick feet. He’s listed at 5’11″ but he looks way smaller than that. He’s only 175 lbs and is very light. He could really use some strength training and could benefit from some time in the weight room. He’s a tackle machine and not much gets past him.
Perrysburg has the explosive players and the experience to reach the promised land if everything goes according to plan. They have those core players heading into the year with a ton of experience. How far they go depends on how disciplined they play and how they react to diversity when it comes. I’ll be watching Perrysburg at least once this fall and if you’re in the Toledo area I would recommend doing the same thing!
