Here are some of the top performers from the two day camp…
Leebeus Overton – Milton
The nation’s top 2023 prospect was unstoppable on both days. The 6-foot-4 265-pound defensive end is the state’s top pass-rusher, and he made it look easy against the run and the pass all day. He’s tough and physical against the run, and he’s almost unblockable when he’s coming off the passer. He made it look easy and it was easy to see why he’s ranked as a 5-star prospect. He won just about every rep he had on both days, and was fighting off double and triple teams throughout the camp. He was easily the camp’s top performer. Overton led the state in sacks last season as a sophomore with 21.5 and he’s only getting better. He holds offers from Alabama, Georgia, Clemson, Ohio State, Texas A&M, and many more.
Jordan McDonald Jordan McDonald 6'1" | 215 lbs | RB Milton | 2022 State GA – Milton
The big Milton running back was running hard all camp. Now close to 220-pounds, McDonald was so tough to bring down by every defense he went up against, and put quite a few defenders on his back. mHe ran hard, ran with balance, and knows how to dish out punishment on a defender. He looked great on both days and will be leading the Milton rushing attack this fall. Look for him to be one of the state’s leading rushers in 7A this year. McDonald holds offers from Tennessee, East Carolina, FIU, and Florida Atlantic.
Asani Redwood – Collins Hill
One of the more underrated defensive linemen in all of Gwinnett County, Redwood is still brand new to football, only having played for two years, and is expected to be one of the breakout stars for Collins Hill, one of the top 7A teams heading into the season. At 6-foot-4 235-pounds, Redwood looks the part physically and learning how to play the position more and more each day. He’s far from a finished product, but that’s one of the more exciting parts about his game. He gets better each time he puts the pads on, and the staff at Collins Hill say he’s extremely coachable. He’s an unknown player right now, but once college coaches are able to come by practice, the interest from schools will come. Look for Redwood to have a big senior season this fall.
Ryan Stephens – Collins Hill
One of the Eagles’ biggest weapons on offense this upcoming season, Stephens is a transfer from Roswell who will absolutely improve the Collins Hill rushing attack. They don’t have to run it much with one of the best passing attacks in the state, but they’ll be able to run it effectively when they wants. Stephens was excellent during the padded camp, showing good burst, balance, and athleticism for someone 6-foot-1 215-pounds. He bounces off tackles with ease knows how to finish his runs. He’s an absolute chin mover who will be able to get the Eagles tough yardage in short yardage scenarios. He also made some longer runs during the camp and showed that he can be tough to stop once he gets through the line of scrimmage. He has a chance to have a giant impact for the Eagles this fall.
Caleb Downs Caleb Downs 5'11" | 180 lbs | DB Mill Creek | 2023 State GA – Mill Creek
One of the top overall defensive backs in the state, the high four-star from Gwinnett County made plays both as a defensive back and receiver during the camp. He’s long, athletic, and is just a natural football player. He shows great instincts in coverage and will be able to play multiple positions in the secondary if he’s needed too this fall. He didn’t see many passes thrown in his direction, and that’s a smart idea by QBs. Downs has no problem tracking the ball in the air and making a play on it. It was easy to see why he’s one of the top defensive backs prospects across the country in the 2023 class.
