Ladue High School 7-on-7 Standouts

The Ladue 7v7 has been one of the most competitive events this summer. Five powerhouse teams took turns going head-to-head, and competing at a high level. A lot of great plays were made, and they concluded the event with a “King of the Court” type of game with each team. Here are some athletes that stood out in the 7v7 exhibition. <strong>RB/DB [player_tooltip player_id="173606" first="Kyson" last="Jackson"] McCluer c/o 22.</strong> The coaches spoke highly of Jackson. They stated that it was his first time playing corner, and he deserves praise from the way he performed on defense. Jackson caught a few interceptions and made a couple pass breakups in the 7v7 event. The young athlete is not only a great running back, but a natural born ballhawk on defense.<span class="Apple-converted-space"> He’s fast and has great footwork as a DB. It’s going to be exciting to see what he does in the fall. </span> <strong>WR [player_tooltip player_id="101667" first="Gavin" last="Bomstad"] De Smet c/o 22.</strong> This kid was everywhere on the field. Every defense was trying to find answers on how to stop Bomstad from scoring, but they couldn’t figure it out. He’s fast and finds numerous ways on how to get open. Bomstad has great concentration on the ball and he never dropped a pass when he was on the field. He caught 4 touchdowns during the 7v7. This will be one of the receivers to watch this season. <strong>WR [player_tooltip player_id="173621" first="Kyle" last="Taylor"] Hazelwood Central c/o 23</strong> Taylor transferred over from Lutheran St. Charles to join the Hawkshow. And he played at a high level, catching bombs from Senior QB [player_tooltip player_id="122413" first="Bryson" last="Brown"]. The defense had a hard time defending Taylor. He’s very fast and elusive. He has great hands, and he is not afraid to catch in traffic. Although Taylor is a transfer, he acts like he’s been playing with the Central team since he was a freshman. He fits right in with the Hawks’ dominating offense.<span class="Apple-converted-space"> </span> <strong>DB [player_tooltip player_id="173611" first="Russell" last="Malone"] Ladue c/o 22</strong> Malone was holding it down for the Rams’ defense. He showed great ball skills during the 7v7 and read the quarterback’s eyes fairly well during plays. Malone is very smart when it comes to reading routes and isn’t afraid to make a play on the ball. He also had a few interceptions during the “King of the Field” event at the 7v7 exhibition. Malone will be one safety that college scouts must keep an eye on.<span class="Apple-converted-space"> </span> <strong>DB AJ Byerley De Smet c/o 25</strong> This young DB plays as if he’s no stranger to the game. Byerley is a talented athlete that knows how to use his height to his advantage. He has great hands as a defensive back and does a great job tracking the ball. This is a defensive player college scouts should look at for the next three years of this kid’s career. <strong>WR [player_tooltip player_id="173615" first="Clayshaun" last="Davis"] Hazelwood Central c/o 22.</strong> There’s no debate that this kid is a straight up athlete. He proves it every time he steps on the field. Davis was a deep threat to every defense at the 7v7 event. He also made some great catches in the endzone. Davis had great concentration and was able to bring in a plethora of catches that led to a few touchdowns. Davis will have a breakout season this year along with Senior star receiver [player_tooltip player_id="172292" first="Armani" last="Turner"].<span class="Apple-converted-space"> </span>
