A recruiting report that will assist kickers, punters, and long snappers throughout the Dakotas get exposure to college coaches & programs at the next level. I have learned throughout the years that specialists have the hardest path to college football, and it’s not even close. To start with the theory that there are fewer spots available on a college roster than most positions but also add that most of the attention, interest, offers come in later than everyone else. Our goal is to change that theory here in North Dakota and South Dakota, as the #ForTheBrand recruiting report starts with Harrisburg K/P Bryce Soli Bryce Soli K Harrisburg | 2022 State .
Q: Introduce yourself (let us know what specialist position you play, how you started playing the position, etc. what are some things people outside of your high school should know about you football-wise and what you bring to the table at your position?
Soli: My name is Bryce Soli Bryce Soli K Harrisburg | 2022 State and I am a Kicker & Punter at Harrisburg High School. I started playing football because I have played soccer my whole life, so kicking a ball comes easier to me. I aspire to be the best brother/teammate I can be, and that’s what I have to bring to the table.
Q: What are your biggest strengths on the field at your position?
Soli: My biggest strength on the field has to be my leg strength. Kicking the football as hard as I can brings me joy and satisfaction.
Q: What’s the best part about being a Kicker/Punter in high school football?
Soli: The best part about being a kicker and punter in high school is starting the game with a huge touchback which gets the student section and the fans wild.
Q: Do you plan on playing college football and do you have any schools we can name that are recruiting you currently? This can be visits, phone calls, etc. any sort of contact from any schools and offers. What would be your elevator pitch to a school recruiting you? (Use this as a way to up-sell yourself, it will be posted for many coaches to be seen)
Soli: Yes, I do plan on playing college football. Schools recruiting me currently are the University of North Dakota, University of Sioux Falls, Dakota Wesleyan, Dakota State, Northern State, Minnesota State-Mankato, Chadron State, Augustana University, and Morningside. I am not only a great teammate, but also a great student.
Q: What is something in your past seasons that your coaches told you to improve on this season and how much work this offseason had you put in to improve on those things kicking-wise.
Soli: Last season I struggled with my timing approach on PAT’s. This summer I have really sped it up.
Q: Who is your kicking mentor? Can be any coach, alumni, etc. that’s had an impact on your football-kicking career!
Soli: My biggest mentor would have to be my mother. She is the reason I get to these camps to compete, and overall the reason why I want to push myself to become a D1 athlete.
Q: What makes you a #ForTheBrand high school specialist in South Dakota and why?
Soli: I am a #ForTheBrand specialist because of the great impact I plan to have on my team this season.
The Tape Evaluation:
Soli mentioned that he’s improved on the speed of his extra-point kicks this summer which I am excited to watch in 2021 to see how quickly his flow has improved into his senior season as far as the seconds go. When I watch Soli kick, I feel like this young man has a lot of depth. First off I look at the range. Soli is not going to be a prospect that is going to leave a kick short. Even though he questioned his timing on extra points, he clears the uprights by almost always a significant amount that you don’t have to worry about if you are his special team’s coach. His longest kick was from 32 yards last year and I believe could have cleared 45 yards if not more. He also has really good hangtime on nearly every kick. That is also a development he can work on. Depending on where Soli plays at the next level, the wind might take that ball outside the uprights. I do think his depth is very solid, but some extra work on a windy day testing his hangtime on situational kicks could be a great add-on to his game. Good luck to Bryce in his senior season & Go Tigers!
