They finished with a 9-3 record and finished 6-1 in their conference. Carmel is a well-respected program in the Indianapolis area, and for good reason. They’ve earned it and built their program the right way.
Coach John Hebert has brought in a physical and blue-collar work ethic into Carmel. They play smart, tough, and play every second like it’s their last. They start their season @ Trinity on August 20th at 7:30 PM. Carmel will be ready to roll.
Carmel is led by QB Zach Osborne. Osborne is 6’1″ and 215 lbs. He’s a big and strong QB who is the clear leader of the team. He’s a great athlete and can bust open any play. Osborne also has a huge arm. He can throw it on a rope with minimal effort. For being so young he has decent footwork in 3-step drops but he could use some cleanup on his 7-step drops. He’s a 3-star recruit and has offers from Colgate and local Ball State. With his big Junior year, the expectation has grown and all eyes are on Osborne this year and he knows it.
Solomon Williams is the leader on defense. The Senior Safety is 5’11” and 180 lbs. He flies all over the defense and makes key plays. He’s the signal-caller when it’s crunch time on defense. The 2-star recruit has offers from SEC Memphis and then Campbell, Pennsylvania, and Princeton. He has the eyes of some SEC programs and he could get more eyes with a huge year.
The high-flying offense averaged just under 32 PPG last year. With Osborne at the helm and another year of development, they will know how to move the ball up and down the field. They are a young team and only getting better. Anytime you have a QB with as much upside that Osborne has you’re in great shape.
Look to Osborne and Williams to lead Carmel this year as they push for a State Championship. That’s the expectation in Carmel. coach Hebert has that team ready to go every time they step on the field. Osborne and Williams are primed and ready to roll as well. Put Carmel on your docket of teams to watch in 2021. They very well could end up in Lucas Oil Stadium in December and if they do you won’t want to miss it.
