Overview (Class 2A Preseason Ranking: #3)
Few teams have been as consistent as the Beggs Golden Demons over the last five years. They’ve made deep runs into the playoffs every season and this year should be no different. Beggs comes into this season as the #3 team in our preseason rankings. They’re certainly one of the elite teams in the class. The biggest question mark coming into this season is will this be the year in which they finally get the job done. The district will be tough once again and top heavy as district foe Metro Christian is the top ranked team in our 2A preseason poll after winning the last two state championships. Beggs has been so close over the last few years and they appear to have the firepower to finally get the job done in 2021. They return nearly everyone off last year’s semifinal team. Nine starters on offense and eight starters on defense will be back and they even have some young players that they expect to contribute in a big way. The biggest loss for Beggs will certainly be

, the top rated prospect in the state’s 2021 class. He’s been so important to this Beggs team for years and now they’ll need some new talent to step up in his absence. That’s where the returning starters, young playmakers and even a special transfer will help replace the talented Daniels. With nearly everyone coming back and plenty of experience in big games, the Golden Demons should be at the top of 2A football throughout the 2021 season. But will they have enough to finally capture that elusive gold ball? We’ll have to wait and see on that.

returns for his senior season. Brown is already committed to Oklahoma State and is one of two dangerous running backs that will be lining up for the Golden Demons on offense this season. Brown also benefits from having a solid offensive line in front of him. When Brown gets into the open field, he’s nearly impossible to stop because you can’t get your hands on him. Brown is also a threat to make things happen as a receiver coming out of the backfield, just adding another threat to opponents in this Beggs offense.

This is a perfect example of the rich getting richer as the Beggs defense was already going to be solid in 2021. Now, they have the chance to be one of the best in the state after elite defensive end

moved into the district. Bogard is coming off a knee injury after spending last season in nearby Okmulgee. But you take a look at what he did up in Kansas as a sophomore in 2019 and it’s apparent that he’s one of the best defensive ends in Oklahoma’s senior class. Now that Bogard is getting back to 100 percent, he’s going to give the Golden Demons an elite pass rusher who will be terrorizing opposing quarterbacks.

. Beggs had plenty of talent last year and yet Martel was able to get significant playing time as a freshman. That should tell you how special this kid could be. We put an emphasis on “could be” because it is still early in his development and more schools will be ready for him this fall. However, he is absolutely built for a player his age and because of that, he’ll be able to take on the workload of a workhorse back if he’s needed to compliment Brown’s playmaking ability.

Notable
It has to be suggested that this could be the golden era for the Golden Demons’ football program. They are in the middle of a run that has never been duplicated in school history. Beggs has made it to four consecutive semifinals, with the first two trips in 2017 and 2018 resulting in championship game appearances. The last two years, they’ve lost to Metro Christian and Washington in the semifinal rounds. The one thing that is eluding the Golden Demons is that gold ball. In 2017 and 2018, they had to settle for silver after losing in 2017 to John Marshall and to Sperry in 2018. And with the Golden Demons coming into this season as the #3 team in our preseason rankings, they’re one of the serious contenders to make another deep run and make it five straight semifinal appearances in 2021. However, the Golden Demons obviously want to finish the job this fall and be lifting a gold ball to finish off the year.
2021 Schedule/Games To Watch
Aug. 27 – AT Lincoln Christian
– It’ll be one of the best overall games in week zero as teams kick off their 2021 seasons. One of the top teams in 2A squaring off with one of the top teams in 3A. Both Lincoln Christian and Beggs have championship aspirations and despite this game being very early in the season, it will still give us a good idea of how each team stacks up as a championship contender. Lincoln Christian dominated Beggs in their meeting a year ago and you can bet that the Golden Demons haven’t forgotten about that. Both teams will be hungry to get their seasons off to good starts.
Sept. 3 – Rejoice Christian
Sept. 17 – Chandler
Sept. 24 – Henryetta
Oct. 1 – AT Okmulgee
Oct. 8 – AT Metro Christian
– This match-up has turned into quite the rivalry between two of the best teams in Class 2A. If the rankings hold on like they are now, we’ll have #1 Metro Christian hosting #3 Beggs in week six. This district is tougher than it was last year but these two teams are the heavy favorites to capture the district championship. The winner here will be in the driver’s seat while the loser will be in must win situations the rest of the way. Metro won a low-scoring and close game last year. Something tells us that we might see a few more fireworks in the rematch this fall.
Oct. 14 – Morris
Oct. 22 – AT Kiefer
Oct. 29 – Haskell
Nov. 5 – AT Victory Christian
