Passing camps are ending and Fall Camp is a couple days away! What does that mean for most teams? Well for starters; literally, it means two-a-days some teams three-a-days. Teams and players are really getting into the thick of things and after last years hiccup around the world some teams opted to not play the 2020 season and it will be their first time back on the field since 2019 season. Two weeks ago we had a chance to hear what some Birmingham area coaches an their key payers had to say about their upcoming season. After dealing with a few Coach changes everybody should be pretty much acquainted and ready to produce. Here are a few of those teams in the Birmingham area on the watch list for standouts;
[player_tooltip player_id="132050" first="Jaylen" last="Mbakwe"]- DB, Clay-Chalkville 6’0 170 C/O 2024
Sophmore [player_tooltip player_id="132050" first="Jaylen" last="Mbakwe"] looks to continue being one of the most Top Ranked DB in his state. Jaylen stacks offers from SEC schools and a few ACC schools. Jaylen is just a Sophmore but his size screams SEC action right away! With long arms he has tremendous jamming strength which makes his defense a whole lot better playing in stride. This underclassmen made a name for himself last season taking interceptions with his 10.76 speed. Jaylen latest offer came in this month from Samford Univ. Look forward to seeing Jaylen become an offense nightmare this Fall.
Jourdin Crawford- DT, Jackson-Olin 6’2 285 C/O 2025
Big things are ahead for the Big Guy Jourdin as his team, coaches and community granted him a congratulations on receiving his first offer to Gus Malzahn and UCF. The upcoming Freshman set highlight reels last season playing with the JV team when a highlight reel of Jourdin went viral catching a screen pass from his older brother and taking it 30 plus yards in the endzone to celebrate a game winning touchdown.Although it was a JV game, many sae more than potential from Jourdin when he immediately turned on the jets and broke every tackle attempted. Jourdin size will get him a lot of varsity play and Jourdin skills will get him a lot of varsity plays made. Look forward to seeing Jourdin making big plays on both sides of the ball this Fall.
Kameron Keenan- QB, Ramsay 6’2 185 C/O 2025
Big shoes for Mr. Keenan to fill as he looks forward to being the play caller this year after Senior Qb departing this year for college. This off-season Ramsay also lost their Head Coach of 7 years to Shades Valley High School. Now that things are going in another direction with Coach Ronnie Jackson the Dual Threat QB hopes to put on a show Friday nights. Kameron dialed up a few calls this Summer competing in combines and passing camps showing his footwork. Keenan surprised with his arm strength and his ability to fit passes in a tight window. Deep shots are looking very spiffy coming from Keenan. Look forward to seeing if this young stud will be the Starting QB this year as a Freshman. Expect a lot of highlights from this young man and most of all remember his name; Kameron Keenan 2025 Dual Threat QB.
