Alabama Evals: Class 3A Region 8 Top Players

Region 8 in Class 3A is home to Clements, Colbert Heights, Danville, East Lawrence, Elkmont, Lauderdale County and Phil Campbell High School.
The top players in this region display great talent and are in for a big season in 2021.
<strong>Jayden Gilbert </strong>| 5-9 QB | Clements
Gilbert enters his junior year in 2021 and has high expectations. He is a great signal-caller and can sling the ball with his strong passing ability. Gilbert can hurt a defense in multiple ways and makes all the right throws to be successful.
<strong>Skylar Balta </strong>| 6-0 WR | Colbert Heights
Balta is a tall receiver that can take advantage against smaller defenders immediately after the snap. He excels at eluding defenders after the catch and runs his route to perfection. The senior exemplifies what it means to be a talented star on the outside with his great catching ability and his willingness to get into the endzone.
<strong>Gage Taylor </strong>| 6-1 QB | Danville
Taylor is a great player under center that can sling the ball down the field but also make solid reads to get the ball to any open receiver. When under pressure, he can use his speed to avoid a sack and can pick up crucial yards for his team.
<strong>Jaylan Smith </strong>| 5-7 RB | East Lawrence
Smith displays great power and quick speed in his running ability. He can get to the outside in a flash but can move past defenders well when running up the middle. He is also great in the pass catching scheme and can help his team keep drives alive.
<strong>Nick Chambless </strong>| 5-11 CB | Elkmont
Chambless plays with a ton of poise and can be a nightmare matchup for any opposing receiver. Throughout any game, he makes his presence known by staying step for step with his man and can pick off any pass that a receiver might overlook. He could end up being a lockdown cornerback in 2021.
<strong>Clay Allen </strong>| DE | Lauderdale County
Allen is a big defensive end that can get pressure in the backfield on any play. Off the snap, he can move past blockers and disrupt big play attempts or make quick tackles to save a potential first down. He has great footwork and solid hands when getting past the offensive line.
<strong>Bryant Hyde </strong>| QB | Phil Campbell
Hyde displays all the right attributes to lead his team to success this season. He has a solid frame and a strong arm to sling the ball down the field. In crucial situations, he can hit the check down pass or elude defenders with his feet. Hyde could become one of the top quarterbacks in all of class 3A in 2021.
