In the wake of a flurry of offers, visits and commitments that come with the open period of recruitment, it’s easy to overlook some players that aren’t making headlines. Here, we’ll take a look at five quarterbacks flying under the radar this summer.

Locklear is one of my favorite quarterbacks in the state and received his first offer from Davidson back in April. Surprisingly, his recruitment hasn’t immediately taken off. Locklear is one of the more accurate quarterbacks in the state and has better pocket movement than even the most elite prospects. He most recently visited Davidson, but also put on a show at Mercer’s Megacamp, running a 4.6-second 40 and standing out throughout the duration of the camp. Check out some of these throws.

[player_tooltip player_id="50906" first="Jaylen" last="Patterson"], 6’2 200, 2023- West Caldwell
Patterson is somehow flying under the radar despite his considerable talent. So far this summer, Patterson has been busy on the recruiting trail, stopping by Eastern Kentucky, North Carolina, Clemson, Wake Forest, South Carolina and NC State. He has plans to visit North Carolina A&T and Colorado State before summer’s end. Patterson has good size and throws an accurate deep ball, as shown in a couple of these clips.

[player_tooltip player_id="144835" first="Dylan" last="Bisson"], 5’11 170, 2022- Mountain Island Charter
Bisson put up some of the best numbers of any quarterback in the state this spring season, averaging over 320 passing yards a game and throwing for 15 touchdowns in six games for Mountain Island Charter. Bisson has a great arm, especially at his size and sees the field well. He’s recovering from a knee injury suffered at the end of the season, so fall should be a busy time for him. Bisson has excellent grades and could get into most schools in the country off his academics alone. Check out his season highlights.
[player_tooltip player_id="149800" first="Camden" last="Coleman"], 6’3 215, 2022- Glenn
Coleman really impressed me when I saw him throw in person earlier this spring and he’s taken some momentum through the summer. He has ideal size for the quarterback position and throws a really catchable ball. Coleman makes great decisions and has all of the makings of a good college quarterback. Check out his 7-on-7 highlights.

[player_tooltip player_id="118817" first="Isaiah" last="Faulkner"], 6’ 180, 2022- Corinth Holders
Faulkner is a great athlete at the quarterback position with a sub-4.7 40 and great shuttle time. He’s a high-academic who excels in the classroom. This summer, he’s been to several Division 2 and FCS camps including UNC Pembroke and Lenoir-Rhyne while sprinkling in a few FBS workouts as well. A two-sport athlete, Faulkner is also a standout on the baseball diamond.
