It’s been a great week for the Georgia Tech Yellow Jackets who have added commitments from two of the top offensive line prospects in the state.
First, it was three-star interior lineman [player_tooltip player_id="33940" first="Griffin" last="Scroggs"] who jumped on board. One of the top interior lineman in all of Georgia, Scroggs is a big, nasty center/guard with good size and strength at 6-foot-4 300-pounds. A Max Preps 2nd Team All-State selection, Scroggs is coming off a big junior season where he helped anchor an outstanding Grayson offensive line to a state championship. One of the best centers in the state, Scroggs is extremely physical and opened up a lot of holes between the tackles for four-star running back [player_tooltip player_id="33678" first="Phil" last="Mafah"]. He was a pancake machine last year and is expected to be even better season as a senior. The Gwinnett County standout plays hard to the whistle and doesn’t need help from another lineman to take on big, powerful defensive tackles in the middle of the trenches.
Scroggs started to reel in plenty of bigger offers this summer as he took visits and worked out for college coaches all across the South, but decided to stay home and play for the Yellow Jackets who are slowly starting to get back to relevance in the ACC. They are trying to bring in tough, hard-nosed players, and that’s exactly what Scroggs will bring. He doesn’t take plays off and knows how to get his opponent to the ground. Whether he’s in pass protection or opening up holes in the run game, Scroggs can do the job and should be in a position to see early playing time once he gets on campus. For now, Scroggs will look to finish his high school career on a strong note and help the Rams repeat as 7A state champions this fall.

Another lineman who decided to stay home and play for the Jackets is metro-Atlanta tackle, [player_tooltip player_id="33886" first="Tyler" last="Gibson"]. The Johns Creek standout is one of the top overall linemen in Fulton County and has been a multi-year starter at left tackle in his career. He’s a team leader and will bring more size to Georgia Tech’s offensive line at 6-foot-5 290-pounds. He’s long, has a nice initial punch, and competes his butt off each and every play. He’s far from a finished product and still developing as a pass rusher against quality edge defenders, but there’s plenty of potential for him to get better and better throughout his career.
