Only four offensive linemen broke into the top fifty for the 2022 class but the ones that did are impressive. They are big and powerful blockers with excellent foot quickness for their size. These four are also solid pass protectors who can maneuver in space.
[player_tooltip player_id="144966" first="Grant" last="Bingham"] 6’6” 300 Johnson Central
Bingham is the top offensive lineman in the state and the fifth best player overall. Light on his feet for his size, Grant shows his mobility when pulling or leading on the perimeter for the toss sweep. Bingham is physical at the point of attack and mauls defensive linemen across from him. He is also stout in pass protection with a devastating first strike to stop the pass rusher in his tracks. Bingham will go on to play for the University of Kentucky.
[player_tooltip player_id="145480" first="Evan" last="Wibberley"] 6’5” 275 Dixie Heights
This impressive right tackle has all the tools to be an outstanding D1 lineman at the next level. Wibberley comes off the ball with good pad level and delivers a powerful first punch. He is a great finisher at the point of attack with his piston-like leg drive but also extends to the second level on run plays or tunnel screens picking up defenders in space.
[player_tooltip player_id="145492" first="Luke" last="Slusher"] 6’5” 290 Fort Mitchell Beechwood
Slusher displays excellent foot quickness and agility in reaching a wide technique from his tackle position. He is a real technician in terms of coming off the ball, hand placement, and controlling the defender. Slusher snaps his hips on contact with his opponent creating movement off the line of scrimmage and into the second level. His skills are just as impressive in pass protection.
[player_tooltip player_id="148585" first="Anthony" last="Johns"] 6’2” 285 Lexington Christian Academy
Johns is powerful in his core and upper body and does a great job of keeping pressure into the opponent with his body lean after first contact. He works his hands into the frame of the defender not allowing the opposition the chance to disengage. Johns shows his overall athleticism as well when pulling and trapping or leading upfield. He is also a talented defensive lineman that is tough to block.
[player_tooltip player_id="148583" first="Blake" last="Perry"] 6’4” 325 Rowan County
This man didn’t quite make the top fifty overall list, but that does not take away from his talented play as an offensive lineman. Perry must seem like a semi-trailer to the man across from him as he comes off the line of scrimmage. He is a massive and powerful offensive lineman who can destroy anyone that tries to play base technique defense against him. Perry can obliterate the entire defensive front when down blocking but is also impressive for his size as a puller.
