The Cavaliers finished 3-5 on the year, fielding a roster with not many Seniors listed which will make them poised for great season with some good, young players returning. One of those players in ’23 graduate, Jackson Isakson. Standing at 6’3″, and weighing at 185 lbs. Isakson is listed at QB and CB and also handles the kicking/punting duties. Head Coach Billy Young reached out to me and told me he started at kicker as an 8th grader for the Cavaliers, then stepped into his roles as a QB/DB as a Sophomore. After watching his film, both kicking and position play, I was impressed with his accuracy on both his kicks and punts. He went 3 for 3 on FG attempts this year from 49, 39 and 28 yards out. I was impressed with the height on his kicks off his foot, almost impossible to block and evidently has the distance. His punt touch was amazing, I saw at least five punts downed inside the 20 based on the ball basically not bouncing when it hit the ground. According to Coach Young, Isakson was invited to a National Kicking Showcase in Austin, Texas next December. He was also getting his punts more than 50 yards with a long of 65 yards in this offseason. He has good footwork at the QB position and puts good zip and touch on the ball. He was an honorable mention for All-State in 2020 as a sophomore as well. I was able to interview him this past weekend, I could definitely tell he is hungry to get his name out there and show his talent to play at the next level. Check it out below!
PRZ: Hello Jackson, tell us a little about yourself and when you began playing football.
Isakson: I began playing football in 3rd grade, that’s when our first organized football league started, I loved watching football and playing catch. My favorite position was QB, which I haven’t stopped playing since.
PRZ: What do you love about the game?
Isakson: I love the memories and brotherhood football gives. I love working in the off-season with my brothers because that’s what it takes during season to win games.
PRZ: What positions do you play?
Isakson: I play Quarterback, Cornerback, and I kick and punt.
PRZ: What are your expectations for you and your team in 2021?
Isakson: I expect we will have a great year and will still be playing in November (Playoffs.) I also expect some of our younger players to get playing time and gain experience. I also hope to break my own record for longest field goal.
PRZ: How is your recruiting going? Are you in contact with any schools?
Isakson: I haven’t been in contact with any schools yet. I plan on sending out film from some games to coaches soon.
