We’ve entered the final stages of our breakdown by position of the 2022 and 2023 rankings. Today we talk about the eight defensive linemen in the 2023 rankings.
1. [player_tooltip player_id="137935" first="Brayden" last="Mummert"], Cibola: At 6-foot-2, 230 pounds, Mummert already looks like a college defense end. And he still has two more high schools seasons to go. We know about the Cibola offense. The defense will be key as well if the Cougars make a run this fall.
2. [player_tooltip player_id="138040" first="Tylen" last="Gonzalez"], Carlsbad: The first thing you notice about Gonzalez is his size (6-7, 260 pounds). He’s an outstanding basketball player as well, and that can only help him become a better football player.
3. [player_tooltip player_id="138041" first="D.J." last="Moore"], Carlsbad: The Cavemen are loaded with promising young players along the defensive front, and Moore will combine with Gonzalez to give Carlsbad two tall defensive ends. Moore is 6-foot-3, 225 pounds.
4. [player_tooltip player_id="138072" first="Michael" last="Ash"], Bernalillo: With a 6-foot-0, 275 pound frame, Ash makes his presence felt in the middle of the Bernalillo defensive line. In 4 games this spring Ash had 9 tackles and 4 sacks. With [player_tooltip player_id="26210" first="Ayden" last="Madrid"] off to Fort Lewis College, Ash will be counted on to wreak havoc in the interior.
