On Sunday, Prep Redzone hosted some of the best athletes in the state of Oklahoma for our Prep Redzone Oklahoma spring showcase. Coaches from nearly ten college staffs were on hand to watch some of Oklahoma’s best in the 2022-2024 classes. We’ll have content from the Showcase all week here on Prep Redzone Oklahoma and today we begin our positional breakdowns with the offensive linemen. We had quite a talented pool of trench warriors in Owasso for the event, and after going through all the testing numbers and our notes from the day, we felt like these 4 guys stood out the most. Let’s dive in!
Tryce Lewis Tryce Lewis 6'3" | 285 lbs | OL McLoud | 2023 State OK – McLoud – Class of 2023
Of all the OL in Owasso on Sunday, Tryce was one of only two OL that I had scouted substantially or seen in person before the showcase. And to no surprise, he once again showed out and opened some eyes among the scouts and coaches in attendance. It was already a common belief around the state that Lewis had the physical profile of a future starter along the interior O-Line at the next level, so it was no surprise to see him measure in at 6’2″ and weigh in at 297. However, Tryce came into the 2020 season at 285, so it became obvious on Sunday that he has been grinding this offseason to get bigger and stronger. Though he’s packed on some significant poundage recently, Tryce still looked smooth and nimble, while also maintaining enough short-area burst and pop to keep up with a few of the speedier rushers on the outside. We already knew about the strength and power he brings in the run game coming in, so it was refreshing to see him hold his own and even dominate at times in the pass rush/1 on 1 drills. Overall, it’s safe to say that Tryce passed the eye test and then some from a physical and athletic profile perspective and was one of the more impressive OL prospects all around.
Dawson Rudd Dawson Rudd 6'6" | 270 lbs | OL Claremore Sequoyah | 2022 State OK – Claremore – Class of 2022
Dawson Rudd Dawson Rudd 6'6" | 270 lbs | OL Claremore Sequoyah | 2022 State OK was a player that caught the eye of many evaluators at the camp because of his combination of size, speed, physicality, and potential room for growth. Rudd ran the fastest 40 of any OL at the showcase, clocking in just a hair over 5 seconds. Additionally, Rudd measured in at a solid 6’4.5″ and weighed in at 265 Lbs. This may seem light for a lineman going into his senior season, but Dawson has a fit and sturdy frame that college coaches will fall in love with as he could easily pack on more weight and muscle with the right strength and conditioning program backing him up. In the 1on1 sessions, even with the pads off, Rudd never shied away from contact and often finished his reps by putting the dude across from him in the turf. Rudd’s best shot at the next level could still be on the defensive side coming off the edge, especially after winning numerous awards for his efforts there in 2020, including district defensive player of the year. However, Dawson signed up for the showcase as an OL and plays both ways for Claremore, so he may have been out to prove something to the coaches who were there to scout the local talent.
Milton White Milton White 6'3" | OL Jenks | 2023 State OK – Jenks – Class of 2023
We hit on Milton last week as a standout on the O-Line for Jenks at Sante Fe’s team camp for his efforts in the run game and on Sunday he once again impressed us but in a few different areas. Milton finished with one of the better 40 times among the OL at the showcase with a 5.47, which is flying for a big man like him when you see that he weighed in over 300 Lbs. To put it in perspective, White’s time in the 40 at 300+ Lbs was faster than a few of the DEs in attendance and put him right up there with some of the linebackers as well. White continues to impress us with his high motor and strength off the line, and we think he earned himself some looks from coaches in attendance as well. Keep your eye out for White’s stock along the recruiting trail as he continues to show out every time he’s on the field.
Connor Davis Connor Davis 6'4" | 240 lbs | OL Prague | 2022 State OK – Prague – Class of 2022
After turning on his Junior tape, it was obvious that Davis is a beast in the run game for Prague. There are countless plays where he’s putting guys on the ground early at or near the line of scrimmage, along with a number of plays where he is chasing them 10-15 yards down the field to do more of the same. Effort and intensity like that are things that college coaches love to see, and we saw more of the same from him on Sunday. However, similar to Dawson Rudd Dawson Rudd 6'6" | 270 lbs | OL Claremore Sequoyah | 2022 State OK , Connor could be seen as a bit light for a college o-lineman after weighing in at 240, so his best spot at the next level be on the defensive side of the ball unless he decides to bulk up a little more, which he has the frame to do so. Davis has the size at 6’3″ and the speed off the edge to cause problems for offensive lines in college, and he put that on full display in Owasso as he breezed by some of the top OL in attendance when he switched over to DE for a few reps. Although, just like Rudd, Davis signed up for the showcase as an OL and went through all his testing and positional drills with the big heavies on offense, and looked impressive throughout the day while doing so.
