New Mexico head coach Danny Gonzales continues to make good on his vow to recruit deserving FBS caliber prospects from the Land of Enchantment.
After the previous regime virtually ignored the state, Gonzales signed about a half dozen NM prospects in the 2021 class.
Now the Lobos are off and running for the 2022 class.
La Cueva OLB Hunter Haemker, who is listed at 6-foot-3, 215 pounds, was recently offered by the Lobos. He joins Rio Rancho OL [player_tooltip player_id="26229" first="Cayden" last="Romero"] and Jal OL [player_tooltip player_id="26228" first="Roger" last="Carreon"] as rising seniors who have been offered by UNM.
UNM defensive coordinator Rocky Long extended the offer to Haemker, who is being recruited as a linebacker.
“I was super excited to get the offer,” Haemker told Prep Redzone New Mexico. “It felt unreal. All my hard work is finally paying off.”
Haemker told Prep Redzone New Mexico that FCS schools Northern Arizona and Stephen F. Austin have expressed interest, while Air Force has been in contact.
Haemker plans to camp at Texas Tech and Oklahoma this summer along with possibly more camps.
