The toughest part about this final record for them was the fact that each of their 5 losses came within their region. They lost to teams such as Dacula, Habersham Central, Buford, Shiloh, and Winder- Barrow. Their bigger losses came to Habersham, and Buford, in which they lost by more than 20 points. Regardless of this, the other losses they sustained were within reach, which shows that they have a bright future ahead of them if they can learn to finish strong in each of their games. Undoubtedly, this is what the Longhorns are probably looking to improve upon this season. As the 2021 season slowly approaches, look for them to take the steps to improve in any way possible, especially with some of their younger talent that is continuing to develop more and more over time.
Anthony Ramos- OL
At 6’0, 285, Ramos is a force on the interior line for the Longhorns. Not only does he hold his weight well, but he is compact, and uses his hands and arms well when blocking. He keeps his arms close to his body, and does a good job of not getting off balance, or easily overpowered. On contact, he engages defenders well, and even uses his feet and athleticism to do the work for him at times as well. This can be seen in the way he pulls, and how he is able to maneuver pass rushers with good footwork, and a good base in which he plays at. Ramos is also strong for his size, which helps him to overpower defenders, and to be able to create holes for the ball carrier. In the 2021 season, we expect Ramos to continue to be a staple on the Longhorn’s offensive line, and to be a key piece to any success they may have on the ground.
Savodd Underwood- RB
Underwood, who will be a senior this upcoming season, will likely see a ton of snaps at the RB position. Not only does he show good short area quickness, but his burst, twitch, and vision can be lethal when paired together. This helps him to be able to make defenders miss, helping him to make it to the second level of the field. Underwood also shows the ability to turn the corner, which is awesome to see out of a RB his size. Due to him being smaller, the more speed, and production he can display on the ground, the better. We also like the pad level that he runs at, and the consistency in his balance upon contact. This ultimately makes him a more productive runner, and a more reliable force for his offense when the ball is in his hands.
Tywan Royal- DB
When watching Royal’s tape, it is evident that he is a smooth, reactionary football player, but sometimes, he can be a bit slower out of his breaks. Regardless, we like the bend and burst that he plays with, which is crucial in being able to run alongside receivers, and to make plays on the ball. Royal also plays with decent ball skills, and has the athleticism to work various levels of the field when he turns and runs, making it hard for receivers to gain separation. In 2021, he can continue to be a dominant DB, but we would like to see him improve in his overall use of hands in coverage, as well as the way he handles any form of contact. If he can become more physical, it will help his recruiting stock.
Reese Scott- WR
While Scott may not be the most polished route runner, he certainly lets his speed do all of the talking. With his speed, he is able to get open on routes very easily, and is able to gain good separation from defensive backs hoping to slow him down, and to remain tight to him in coverage. Scott catches well from various angles, and displays a good use of hands, which makes him a reliable to target for his QB. We also like the burst that Scott has out of his breaks, and the way that he uses his vision to help him find creases in the defense when running routes. In 2021, expect Scott to be a reliable target on offense, with a positive contribution of yards, points, and first down conversions.
