Check out the notes from the afternoon session here.
A few names that stood out locally and statewide:
- 2022 Northwestern QB Will Mattison Will Mattison 6'4" | 190 lbs | QB Northwestern | 2022 State SC – The rising senior signal caller had a solid day going through his progressions. He threw a dime on a go route to a receiver you’ll be hearing a lot about this fall, Elijah Caldwell Elijah Caldwell 6'1" | 190 lbs | WR Northwestern | 2023 State SC . We’ll touch on Caldwell here in a moment.
- 2023 Northwestern WR Elijah Caldwell Elijah Caldwell 6'1" | 190 lbs | WR Northwestern | 2023 State SC – He made an incredible catch and run where he really displayed his height advantage over the corner early in the day.
- 2022 South Pointe QB Zay McCrorey – You can notice the size on this young man when you watch him in person. He exceled in making throws on roll outs and leading his receivers to making the grab. He puts the ball where his receiver can get to it and the offense in general plays with good tempo.
Had a great experience today at the NW air raid 7 on 7 ! Good day to compete and get better 🙏🏾 @DerekMillerECU @HolloMan21 @TheCoachLj @CoachB_NinerD pic.twitter.com/bO60gHOePW

- 2022 Westside QB Peter Zamora Peter Zamora 6'0" | 200 lbs | QB Westside | 2022 State SC – The Marshall commit threw a dime for a touchdown to 2024 Westside RB Dee Robertson Dee Robertson 5'6" | 150 lbs | ATH Westside | 2024 State SC on 4th down and goal. He made several nice throws throughout the morning but we came away really impressed with the way he threw the out route, one of which led to a touchdown as well. He has pinpoint accuracy and won’t force the ball.https://twitter.com/sawdustpete/status/1406264669770334214
General local team observations from here in York Co.:
- It is only 7 on 7 so you can’t take too much stock into it, but we didn’t see too many drops and it looked like the timing was there between the quarterbacks and receivers, which is what you want to see at this point in the summer. Everyone ran routes at full speed. The quarterbacks threw their receivers open from what we saw from South Pointe and Northwestern.
- Receivers caught it with their eyes and hands, showing good concentration, like we saw from South Pointe early.
General team observations from around the state:
- Camden had some nice pass breakups in stepping in front of the routes and knocking them away in some of the early games. One receiver for the Bulldogs made a nice catch near the sideline and extended to make sure he caught it in bounds. There was a point where a receiver high pointed the ball and brought it down.
- Greer is the defending state champion and lost in the afternoon session, but we were really impressed with their quarterback. He won’t force it and will take what the defense gives him. He made a throw to his left for a touchdown and did a good job of looking off the safety.
- Fort Dorchester has a team of athletes that will cause trouble for teams down in the Lowcountry. They have a linebacker who can fly around and close on the ball quickly. The receivers are quick and make the catch.
