2023 Watchlist Breakdown: Orange County Part 2

Last week I broke down the <a href="https://prepredzone.com/2021/05/2023-rankings-breakdown-orange-county-edition/">players from Orange County</a> that made the updated 2023 rankings on Prep Redzone. Now it’s time to break down the players who didn’t quite crack the top 150 but made the new Watch List. <div class="article-content"> <a class="pn-player-link" href="https://prepredzone.com/player/matthew-morrell-2/"><span class="name-pointer">[player_tooltip player_id="35436" first="Matthew" last="Morrell"]</span></a> transferred to Cypress from Orange Lutheran and made an immediate impact. He broke the school-record for single game receiving yards with 234 in his Cypress debut against Valencia. He is a great deep threat receiver and Cypress runs a lot of plays for him to get him the ball as much as possible. https://twitter.com/JonathanKhamis/status/1373680808762957825?s=20 [player_tooltip player_id="145256" first="Paul" last="Smith"] is an outside backer from Mater Dei who didn’t get much varsity time last year. On the lower levels, he is a solid pass rusher who is quick off the ball and has safety-type speed. [player_tooltip player_id="25449" first="Kitione" last="Talavou"] is an outside backer for Servite who could be a defensive end depending on the scheme. He is best a pass rusher but he gets to the flat quickly in pass coverage. He is a sure tackler and will definitely get some more playing time this fall. https://twitter.com/KTalavou/status/1249120292607266819?s=20 [player_tooltip player_id="25454" first="David" last="Tuliau"] is a defensive lineman from JSerra who can play on the interior of the defensive line. There is not a lot of varsity film on him, but he is around 270 pounds and can play on both sides of the ball. He is also a thrower on the track team with a shot put mark over 40 feet. [player_tooltip player_id="145260" first="Cristian" last="Viola"] is a left tackle and defensive end from Crean Lutheran. He has a good first step in pass protection and has strength. He is 6-foot-6 and around 250 pounds and is a 4.2 GPA student. Viola works with Allegiance Athletics led by prestigious offensive line coaches Chris Ward and Kody Afusia. &nbsp; </div>
