Welcome to another edition of our Statewide watch list series! This week, we’ve got four prospects you should be keeping tabs on, including a rising senior in the Lowcountry who is versatile. In case you missed it, here’s the latest edition of the series from Friday, April 23.
Cane Bay – 2023 LB/SS Cameron Avery

Analysis: Avery primarily lines up at linebacker and is what you’re looking for at the position. He fills the alleys well against the run and pass. He can recognize, pursue and react to plays quickly like where a receiver was sent on orbit motion and he had the right eye discipline to stay where he needed to. He wins at the LOS in not allowing the back to get going. His ability to wrap up and make tackles is impressive.
Crestwood – 2024 QB Javion Martin

2020 Season Stats (8 games): PASS: 80/141, 1040 yards, 8 TDs
RUN: 26 rushes, 144 yards, 1 TD
Analysis: The rising sophomore is a dual-threat quarterback who has the ability to elude defenders in the read option game. He has nice velocity on his throws in the short to intermediate passing game. In the play action pass game, he can create slight hesitation in the secondary to where he can make a throw over the middle for a touchdown, like we saw on film. He can also get out of the pocket on designed roll outs and makes accurate throws to the sidelines.
May River – 2022 ATH Jaeon Allen

2020 Hudl highlight film
Analysis: The 6’3, 187-pound rising senior makes an impact all over the field. He’s difficult to tackle if you line him up in the backfield as he has the strength and the power to break through arm tackles. He can make real north and south progress at returner on special teams as he patiently waits for holes to open and then he explodes through them at full speed. The interest for this young man has picked up as he has received offers from Florida Atlantic University and Fordham University, and expect it to only grow as the season approaches.
Wilson – 2023 DT/DE Chance Cummings

2020 Hudl highlight film
Analysis: The first thing that stands out about Cummings is his ability to move well for his size at defensive linemen. He can recover fumbles, run with it and get some yards. He wins at the LOS, stopping the run effectively. His motor is always running when it comes to rushing the passer and he showed on film he can fight off blockers to get to the quarterback.
