The Lake Forest College camp and recruiting fair at Pinnacle High School was an extreme success, giving around 300 athletes an opportunity to showcase their talent and earn those offers. The camp feature a large number of college coaches in attendance from D2, D3, and NAIA schools across the country. Athletes from all over the state from various classes left the camp with valuable pieces of information not only from an athletic standpoint, but also from a recruiting process standpoint. From around 300 athletes, there were numerous that were able to impress and receive offers. As for the underclassmen, many of which now find their names on recruiting boards of various schools. With the amount of talent here in Arizona, this camp was a major success. Big thanks to coach Catanzaro and Lake forest College for having me out to evaluate at your camp. Here’s a look at some of the many standouts from the Lake Forest Camp: Alex Rivera, QB, Trevor Browne HS ’22 [caption id="attachment_145153" align="alignright" width="340"] Photo: Lake Forest College, Twitter[/caption] There was a ton of buzz about Rivera all day from numerous coaches. The 5’9" 185lb QB plays with a chip on his shoulder and was on target throughout the day. He shows smooth footwork and a quick release with the ability to fit in throws with velocity and timing. He fit throws in with excellent placement during 1on1’s with solid timing, and should see some offers come in soon. [player_tooltip player_id="42842" first="Brandon" last="Craddock"], LB, O’Connor ’22 Craddock never fails to impress at any game, camp, showcase or 7v7. He is an absolute field general that can diagnose plays, make plays sideline to sideline, tackle 1v1 or in space, drop in coverage, or man up on the TE or slot. One of the most polished LB’s Iv’e seen thus far and is definitely a highly touted prospect that you need to have on your board. Kaden Hicks, OL, Mountain Ridge HS ’22 Hicks entered the camp with a Lake Forest offer and an Arizona Christian offer, and picked up 2 more offers at the camp from Mayville State and Wisconsin-River Falls. He sizes up with a good frame and was impressive throughout the day. He’s powerful with his initial contact with a good punch and moves well at his size (6’4" 260lbs). Ty Robinson, DL, Basha HS ’22 Robinson was a force on the DL throughout the day, and picked up his first offer from Mayville State. He shows a nice initial get off and utilizes violent, athletic hands with good flexibility to swipe the hands and bend low to make his way into the backfield. He was dominant throughout the camp and impressed numerous coaches throughout the day. Big potential for Robinson. [player_tooltip player_id="42817" first="Cameron" last="Mack"], RB, Peoria HS ’22 Mack caught my eye with his frame and speed. He’s listed at 5’8" 180lbs, but looks bigger in person and has a strong, athletic build. He displayed solid speed when he gets his shoulders squared upfield and will be tough to catch in space. He ran routes out of the backfield and was explosive out of his cuts, burning past LB’s and DB’s. Julian Gordon, DL, Williams Field ’22 Gordon sizes up at 6’0" 255lbs, but also played with a chip on his shoulder. He showed violent hands with good bend as he was able to win the 1on1’s in the trenches. Good quickness at the DL position with solid potential, and projects to be a good D3-NAIA fit. [player_tooltip player_id="42871" first="Zach" last="Hammett"], ATH, River Valley HS ’22 Hammett made the long trip to Phoenix for the camp, impressed myself and college coaches, then went to his track meet to help River Valley place 4th in state. He 5’8" 185lbs and is all muscle. He showed excellent twitch with solid lateral agility and was explosive out of cuts. Soft hands with good top end speed and is a very impressive athlete all around. Terryon Rowe, WR/DB, Mountain Pointe HS ’22 Rowe is another kid that continues to impress at every camp and 7v7. He’s a fluid route runner with soft hands and good body control, and possesses that game speed for big play ability. He has recently been playing CB as well, displaying excellent physicality at the LOS and shows solid recovery speed to force PBU’s. A very talented athlete all-around that deserves to get your attention. [player_tooltip player_id="100731" first="Nick" last="Martinez"], QB, St. Mary’s ’22 Martinez was on target all day throwing intermediate and deep routes with solid timing and placement. He did a good job of consistently giving his receivers a shot to make a catch even in tight coverage on 1on1’s. Good arm strength with a fluid release and has the potential to have a strong season. Alex Vales, DB, Sahuaro HS (Tucson) ’22 I heard some buzz about Vales on the opposite side on 1on1’s so I had to check him out. He sizes up at 6’0" 160lbs with room to put on wight, but showed solid patience and quickness. He tracked the receivers hips well and avoided lunging. Good ball skills all around and could be a player to keep an eye on down south. [player_tooltip player_id="110145" first="Layton" last="Duncan"], WR, Brophy Prep ’23 Duncan is a crisp route runner with solid top end speed and can take the top off a defense. He did a great job running verts when faced against man-press and does a good job tracking the ball in. Definitely a 2022 WR to get on your radar. Chris Cappellini, WR, Pinnacle ’22 Capanelli impressed me with his ability to consistently generate a clean release and create separation when faced in a variety of coverages and different prototypes of CB’s (man, off-man, physical, lengthy, etc..). He’s a good route runner all around with strong hands and has the potential to have a strong season at Pinnacle. [player_tooltip player_id="42925" first="Jason" last="Kirkland"], DL, Mountain Ridge ’23 This 2023 kid comes in with exceptional length and athleticism at 6’4" 210lbs and impressed everyone at the camp on Saturday. He holds numerous intangibles to be a lethal pass rusher and is definitely on everyone’s radar as of now. He was a menace along the DL and frequently won his 1on1’s against various caliber offensive linemen.
