Simply, it’s about what we’ve seen and where we think they’re going.
Over the next three years, this list will grow and evolve, as players boost their worth to not only their own high schools, but the colleges they may end up calling home. For now, those, they’ve given us every reason to believe what we’ve seen so far is only the beginning.
Christian Echols Christian Echols 6'4" | 250 lbs | OL Silver Bluff | 2024 State SC , OL/DL, Silver Bluff
Echols is still a bit raw, according to his coach, De’Angelo Bryant. But a likely outer lineman on offense or interior one on defense who also has great footwork can make some major strides. It just so happens that Echols (6-foot-4, 220 pounds) is also well ahead of the size game that could turn him into a multi-faceted recruit with some more seasoning.
Jaden Singletary Jaden Singletary 5'10" | 190 lbs | RB Indian Land | 2024 State SC , RB, Indian Land
Patient tailbacks who are simultaneously willing to initiate contact don’t come around often. Singletary fits into the mold, though. The 5-foot-9, 165-pound running back has shown fullback skills mixed with someone who can bounce outside when the need arises, and it should help the Warriors for years to come.
Chris Dixon Chris Dixon 6'2" | 260 lbs | DL South Pointe | 2024 State SC , DL, South Pointe
On the handful of junior varsity players we included in the initial rankings, we saw something different about them. With Dixon, it came down to two factors. He moves his feet very well for a kid who is already 230 pounds (and growing) and he’s got an effective swim move that’s helped him get into the backfield and cause problems.
Cortez Lane Cortez Lane 5'11" | 170 lbs | RB Cardinal Newman | 2024 State SC , RB, Camden
We’re not saying that Lane is going to have the impact of his big brother – 2020 Mr. Football finalist Willis – right off the bat. But so many of the traits that made Willis successful are prevalent here, too. Cortez Lane Cortez Lane 5'11" | 170 lbs | RB Cardinal Newman | 2024 State SC is already 5-foot-10 and 170 pounds. We haven’t seen anything that tells us he won’t make waves for the next three seasons.
Ben Britton Ben Britton 6'3" | 240 lbs | DL Oceanside Collegiate | 2024 State SC , DL, Oceanside Collegiate (Pictured)
Oceanside is starting to develop some serious talent along in the trenches, and the 6-foot-3, 240-pounder is the next example. He got plenty of varsity snaps as a true freshman (highlighted by a fumble recovery and touchdown) and his counterparts on the OCA offensive line will make him stronger by the week.
