Prep Redzone will release an updated list of the top Class of 2022 Maryland High School football players during the month of May. In the meantime, we will spend the next several weeks doing research on prospects. This isn’t an exact science. COVID-19 shortened the season of a lot of high school football prospects in Maryland.. Some players didn’t even get to play during their junior season. Therefore, some players did not have enough film to make this initial list. Prep Redzone Maryland is always open to hear from coaches. If you know of a Class of 2022 quarterback that should be considered for this list, email us at easternparecruits@gmail.com.
No. 6 Kenneth Prince Jr./5-11/162/St. Vincent Pallotti
Prince is an athlete playing the quarterback position, and there’s nothing wrong with that. He played in three games this year because of a season that was shortened because of COVID-19. Yes, he’s a run-first type quarterback. However, he can hit receivers downfield. If Prince can continue to get better with his short-to-medium passing game, it’ll make him a better quarterback. He’s exciting to watch.
No. 5 Ashten Snelsire/6-3/210/Decatur
Snelsire has done a lot to improve his stock during the spring. He completed 113-out-of-204 passes for 1,714 yards, 23 touchdowns, and three interceptions in seven games. He also added 199 rushing yards and two touchdowns on 49 carries. We consider him to be a pro-style quarterback.
No. 4 [player_tooltip player_id="90502" first="Preston" last="Howard"]/6-5/220/McDonogh
Howard committed to Maryland on Feb. 21. They recruited him as an athlete, but this is about what he’s currently doing at the high school level. We consider Howard to be a dual-threat quarterback.
No. 3 [player_tooltip player_id="134896" first="Wyatt" last="Hagan"]/5-11/190/St. John’s (Previously unranked)
We consider Hagan to be a pro-style quarterback. He may not have any offers at the moment. Hagan completed 39-out-of-69 passes for 575 yards, six touchdowns, and three interceptions in four games. He plays in one of the most competitive leagues on the east coast.
No. 2 [player_tooltip player_id="90510" first="John" last="Griffith"]/6-2/205/St. Frances (Previously unranked)
We consider Griffith to be a Pro-Style quarterback. They did not include him in the previous Prep Redzone Maryland Rankings. Despite only playing one game in the past year, he has several Power 5 offers. Arizona, Boston College, Houston, Kentucky, LSU, UMass, Michigan, Tennessee, and Toledo have all offered Griffith. Without recent game film, we base a lot of that on potential.
No. 1 [player_tooltip player_id="90508" first="Jayden" last="Sauray"]/6-0.5/205/Dr. Henry Wise (Previously No. 2)
We consider Sauray to be a dual-threat quarterback prospect. Maryland, West Virginia, Boston College, Buffalo, Old Dominion, Ole Miss, and Virginia Tech are among the schools that have offered him. We’ll give him the edge over Griffith right now because of his overall production so far during his high school career. During his sophomore season, he passed for 2,006 yards and 30 touchdowns. Griffith also rushed for 400 yards and 11 touchdowns on the ground. That’s great production.
