Here were the top rushing performances from week five.
Nico Brown, Edison, 2022
In a league with tons of talent at the skill positions, Brown is one of the best receivers in the Sunset League. He caught 11 passes for 118 yards in a five overtime thrilling win over Corona del Mar. He leads Edison in all receiving categories and really excels at finding holes in zone coverages. He is sure-handed, is always open and is a quarterback’s best friend. Brown is a 4.3 GPA guy and has offers from Penn and Dartmouth.

Kashton Henjum, Newport Harbor, 2023
Henjum transferred to Newport Harbor from Saddleback Valley Christian after SVC merged with Fairmont Prep and became an 8-man football program. He was great as a freshman last season but the competition SVC played was far inferior to the teams Newport Harbor plays. He has proved that he can play at any level. He had 194 yards receiving and a touchdown in the Sailor’s win over Huntington Beach and is the team’s leading receiver. Henjum has Power 5 prospect potential if he grows a little and keeps hitting the weights.

Alex Jones, Oak Park, 2021
Jones has racked up awards and accolades throughout his career but is still an under the radar prospect. The senior was the Canyon League receiver of the year, First Team All-County, and All-State but still lacks major offers. He caught nine passes for 117 yards and a touchdown in a big win over Thousand Oaks. He is lengthy at 6-foot-3 but a little skinny which is likely why some schools are staying away. He has PWOs from Adams State and Black Hills State, but may be a guy who eventually lands at a good program after two years of bulking up at community college.

Diego Solis, La Jolla, 2021
Solis was the top receiver for La Jolla last season and the favorite target for Jackson Stratton. That has carried over into this year and Solis is putting up great numbers. This past week against Christian of El Cajon, he caught eight passes for 101 yards and two touchdowns. That is with Stratton getting ejected in the first quarter and playing with a sophomore quarterback. He has offers from small schools like Davidson and Benedictine College, who has done an excellent job recruiting in Southern California.

Legend Waring, Culver City, 2021
Zevi Eckhaus has been putting up huge passing numbers for Culver City this season and it’s largely due to the team’s two dominant receivers, [player_tooltip player_id="25154" first="Emari" last="Pait"] and Legend Waring. Waring caught seven passes for 133 yards and two touchdowns in a 42-28 win against a solid Palos Verdes team. Pait is a higher-profile prospect who is going to Fresno State, but Waring is very impressive and going to Cal Poly. Waring should be a multi-year starter for the Mustangs.

[player_tooltip player_id="25186" first="Donovan" last="Williams"], Sierra Canyon, 2021
Williams was off to a slow start but had his best game of the season last week against a good Upland team. He caught seven passes for 168 yards in a 37-0 win. He gets overshadowed a bit with all the elite talent at Sierra Canyon, including his fellow receiver and Virginia Tech signee [player_tooltip player_id="25049" first="DJ" last="Harvey"], but he is a speedy receiver with a lot of upside. He is a hard worker who put in the time at 7-on-7 camps and club football this offseason and is also a balanced athlete, being a lacrosse player. He has an offer from Black Hills State.
